Which amp for JL 10W6?
Okay, Im looking for a new amp for my 10W6. Im running the two voice coils in parallel so I come up with a 3 ohm load. I would like something that wont mind the load (my cheap amp heats up like crazy) when I bridge it. What would ya'all suggest? Does anyone have experience with this speaker?
thanks

The new JL amps will be able to handle that load. Either a 300/1, or if you really want to pound, a 500/1.

I was looking at those amps. Does anyone have experience with them? I love thier speakers (JL) but have never ran thier amps. I would assume that they are as high quality as thier speakers. Anyone had any problems with them?

When I first heard that JL was making amps, I was skeptical, but a friend of mine got a 500/1 for his sub, and I am very impressed. Great build quality, tons of features (crossover, bass boost, etc ), and I really like the fact that they make rated power down to 1.5 ohms mono. And they look great too, and are a relatively small form factor.
For anyone looking for a good solid state amp, I whole-heartedly recommend them.

i am thinkin about running jl amps in my new setup. they are very good quality amps, but i only have one small beef with them. when they rate the power they say 500x1 at 1.5 - 4 ohms? now, do they have a regulated power supply that can can claim the same power from 1.5-4 ohms? because if it wasnt regulated the power would increase dramatically from 4 to 1.5 ohms. anyone know for sure? oh, BTW, 2 beefs...they are ugly too debating between JL, PPI, Cadence and Zapco. hmmmmm.

yes, the power supplies are regulated, so you get consistant power into the speaker.
Remember, a 4ohm , or a 2 ohm speaker is not a consistant resistance. The resistance rated is at rest, when the woofer is not moving. Once the woofer is moving, resistance will change. Having an amp that can deliver consistant power into varying loads is a plus in my book!

Thanks for all the great advice. I guess who better to make an amp to match my 10W6 but JL. Ive looked at these, but never heard them in action. Looks like i'll probably go for the 300/1. I think the 500/1 may be overkill...Recomended Peak power on the 10W6 is I think 500 watts, and I wouldnt like to pay the high price again for another 10W6...but if it came down to it I would!
thanks

they rate them at like 250 rms, but i know of people who run up to 900 watts into EACH 12w3...they can handle alot of power from what i have seen. just so you know, i am probably going to get a 500/1 for 1 10w3, if i decide to run JL.
