How do I keep the 6x9 speaker screws tight?

I bought some dynomat along with other stuff from crutchfield. I plan on putting some behind the 6x9's. Well, I've had the recurring problem of the screws holding the speakers to the plate and the plate to the sheet metal always come loose. How do you guys keep 'em tight? Isn't there stuff you can spray on the screws? Any other ideas? The rattling really p*sses me off but I'm sick of tightening the screws every 6 months. HELP!! Thanks in advance.

Get bigger screws and make sure not to over tighten you could also use lock washers.

Lock washers...Why didn't I think of that? Thanks.

Yeah, there's some stuff I've seen out there called "loc-tite" or something like that but I don't remember what it's application was. It might only be for wood... I may have to just wander around the hardware store and see what I find...

Loc-Tite is for metal to metal applications. Screws, bolts, nuts, etc. Just don't use the red if you want to break them loose any time soon. Use the blue if it's something you want to disassemble some day.

The setup of head unit and rear speakers is almost identical to mine. What did you use to keep the screws held in tight? Did whatever you tried work well?
