Found a speaker deal, well maybe!
I am wondering is 4 100 watt Sony speakers would be an improvement over stock(?) And could them be installed? I have no prob with fabrication, and the intior interior is out of the car.
Thanks in advanced; Audio is just about the only thing I dont know about, and I repect you guys that do!

Where's Jim at, he loves Sony.
j/k. Sony speakers are not the best speakers on the market to put it lightly. What size are they anyway? If they're free than take 'em, if not it's not worth fabricating something to make them fit. Our cars have 4x6 front speakers in the dash and 6x9 rear speakers. I guess they would be an improvment over stock but if they don't fit it's not worth it.
My brands of good speakers are Infinity, Polk, Kenwood, and such for pretty good speakers. Then you could go higher like MBQuart, CDT, a/d/s/, Focal, and the rest. If you listen to the radio a lot go listen to some speakers in your price range and choose some that you like. Everthing you hear should be better than the Sonys so you cant really go wrong.

That x-plod stuff is pure crap. Those coaxes sound absolutely horrid. I'd rather have the stock stuff. Honestly. At least vocals are somewhat natural on the stock crap. The sonys can't get any part of the frequency spectrum right.
We had a pair at the last place I worked. I'd play them first and as soon as the people got used to how they sounded, I'd go to something else and they would be amazed. Those speakers helped me sell more Bostons than you could imagine.

Sony Crap
I wish I could convince more people about Sony being junk. They hear X-Plod and think it the best speaker on the market. I agree with you Jim, Sony is CRAP!!!!

it doesn't matter what you put in the car that will still sound the same if you are going tou use the stock head uint. if you want to get that they are made to sound like get a 4 ch. 50watts RMS AMP and install that.... remember with Car audio you get what you pay for. and stay away from the jenson line. they are pure crap.... i would say your best bet is somethign from memphis car audio (www.MemphisCaraudio.com)

Hey now... has anyone checked out the new Jensen ATS competition line? I got the Jensen ATS100rx amp. $399.95... I got it for $99.95 brand new. I bridged that on my RF Punch HE 12" 4-ohm sub. IT HIT HARD First I put my RF Punch 100.2 on it. It hit hard. Then I put the Jensen and was amazed because most of the jensen stuff people have around here sounds like $#!+. But this amp sounds really good. I ended up putting the Jensen on the component set though because 50W RMS on a 4-ohm comp set... is a LOT better sounding than 25W RMS. I put the RF amp back on the sub and it hits hard. Just wish I had 2 of those Jensen amps...

On the RF amp I had the gain all the way up... which is where it's at now and it hits pretty hard... on the jensen amp... i had it about 3/4 the way up and the crossover on both amps were on the Low Pass setting...
