1 Ohm Stable Amps???
Are there any car stereo amps out there that can w/ stand a 1 Ohm stable or that are designed to drop at a 1 Ohm stable? I take it that amps like these aren't cheap huh??
Since I blew my Aura amp I am looking into getting another set of amps cause it would look really stupid getting another amp that doesn't match my other Aura amp plus trying to find another one that pushes out the same exact power. So in order to push all four 12"'s I am looking at getting two 1 ohm stable amps. Each Rockford Fosgate sub can push out 400 watts RMS & 800 watts peak.
So what are my options? I am looking into getting an amp for each pair of subs. What should I be looking for as far as power wise & brand? Is a 1 Ohm load what I should be looking for?

My old Soundstream Reference amp was stable to 1 ohm. Never tried it though, always ran it at 2ohms bridged mono.
I shoulda kept it instead of trading it for an Alpine 4ch and Alpine 2ch amps.
You do know that running a 1 ohm load on the amp will make the amp work really hard and get really hot.

Check out Memphis amps. Their 1000D puts out 600watts @ 2ohms and 1100watts @ 1ohm. I have ran mine at 1 ohm alot and never had a problem. They also have a 1500D amp which is listed at 1500watts @ 2ohms and I am told it will run at 1 ohm, but it is not listed on their website.
Deciding whether to run at 2 or 1 ohm is not necessarily what to look for (I don't think). Personally, I like to run my amps at 2ohms because the amp doesn't have to work as hard to produce the power. If I were you, I would look for an amp that puts out the power you are looking for at 2 ohms for two reasons.
1) The amp will probably last longer due to it not running as hard.
2) If you ever decide to upgrade your speakers, you will have more power to give them if the amp is 1 ohm stable.
These are just my opinions, but they are things that I have seen over the past couple of years. I would go talk to a few people at some stereo shops and listen to what many of the people here have to say.

I believe that MMATS makes some high current amps. Also Autotek, Hifonics, and Harrison Labs make amps stable to 1 ohm or lower. USAmps also probably makes amps in that range. How were you running the Aura amp? Since its a four channel amp, and you're running DVC's, wouldn't you have to run two ohms mono for each sub?

Yes, you are correct both amps were dropped at 2 ohms. I think that a 1 ohm stable amp would be great for my application or possibly just a 2 ohm amp, my options are still extremely open.

If you don't have a lot to spend, I think Power Acoustic makes some new amps that are stable down to 1 ohm. Haven't heard them so i can't vouch for them though.

I didn't think the Aura amps were stable to 2 ohms mono. The 330x2 RMS is at 4 ohms bridged (12V). At 2 ohms bridged you were probably pulling close to a kilowatt out of each amp. Besides two 1 ohm mono amps, you could also go with two 4 ohm mono amps (probably harder to get the power you're looking for though). Or you could run a single amp at 2 ohms mono or .5 ohms mono. Or you could run 4 amps (1 for each sub) at 2 ohms mono, and have the benifit of a seperate power supply for each sub. That may be a little overboard though...5 amps, and expensive. Would be cool for bragging rights though. If I was building a system like this I would probably go with your original idea of two amps, each at 1 ohm mono.

I just remembered another amp I've heard good things about. The Crossfire 1000D does around 1000 watts @ 1 ohm I believe, and it's also class D so it's nice and efficient.

I haven't seen Crossfire at many online stores. I have seen the 1000D on ebay a few times though. You may have a retailer around you that sells them too. I didn't think Aura went out of business, I just thought they got bought by another company. I may be wrong though. Do you know where one could still get a 4150Q? It would go nicely with my 675H, since they're the same exact size.

Did you happen to get my e-mail Mike of the one that I responded back to you? If all else fails & I can't get that Aura fixed then I'll sell the other one to you. I wish that I could find a used 4150Q somewhere used it would solve all of my problems.
When I went to the audio shop that sold me the Aura amp they said they are no longer an Aura dealer cause they went out of business. They are currently in the midst of restructuring & coming back w/ a whole new line so that means that they were probably bought by some other company after they went under so the name could be kept. I'll tell you what they make a hell of an amp. It's just too bad that I'm having such problems getting this damn amp fixed.
