Can someone name all the componets of a not so bad system that equals less than $1000, i want something that hits hard, but that kill my wallet, because i'm trying to save up for my 3.1 to 5.7 swap, thanks.

That is just a little above $1000 ($1060) but you are talking about a total system there. That Audiobahn amp is more than enough for those subs, and you may want to consider getting a multi channel amp to power your highs better.

Hits hard = Good amps = $$$$$

You can get a decent head unit, CD-changer, and speakers for under $500. Unless you get a sweet deal, the amps will make you or break you. You also have to consider installation cost (parts/labor). Stay away from used amps unless you KNOW who you are buying them from. Just my $.02

I disagree with dallasIroc on this one.. if you are going to spend $350 on a deck then you MUST get a good quality one.. Pioneer only has one good deck as far as features go and that one is more than $500 alone.. The 7200 doesn't even have High volt pre outs. High volt preouts will allow you to turn your amps gains down and not have to have the volume all the way up on the headunit. With that deck I had to have my gains cranked and then the deck still didn't max out my subs. The speakers that were ran off the deck distorted terribly because they had to be turned up this high.. I would recommend either a clarion or an Alpine deck (maybe even Kenwood) if you are going to spend $350 on one.. Lets not forget about the prices of amp install kits! Those can run $100 for a quality one. Your subs will sound alot better if you have a good quality amp install kit than if you install it all ghetto..

 

This is the best I can do for $1000, and this is with the "matrix audio 1 year warranty"... If you want a full manufacturers warranty you'll probly be spending about $500 to $600 more..

I completely forgot about Cadence. They make a fantastic amp as well. You could also look to Eclipse for a nice radio, but you're going to spend a little more. Car audio is just like hot-rodding your car. You have a price range in mind, and then you see something that , for just a little more, you can get, but then after you get that, your other components won't be up to par. And endless cycle....

The above post is what you want to stay away from. Those reactor subs are total crap, although they can sound decent for awhile. The legacy amps are total junk.

I just bought a JVC KD-LX10 on uBid.com for
$165. Later I saw one go for $141.;-P It's the one that turns black when the car is off. All the specs are great to. If you look there for other things, you could get them all cheap. The JVC I bought was listed in Crutchfield for $279. Plus I still got a warranty. They got Fosgate, Pioneer, Alpine, etc. at uBid.com. Wish I would of found it a while ago.

reactors dont suck, did u have any to expierence? if u didnt then dont talk no shyt, my speakers are all aluminum, and trust me when i say they hit hard, they make the ground vibrate and the car shake, mabe im not rich like u and have all sony or what ever u have system but i built my self a hard hitin low budjet system

 

Not rich at all, I am married, have only a high school diploma and a few certifications, and I do not own any Sony car audio equipment. In fact my PPI/Eclipse/ Alpine/ Infinity system cost me less than $800, so I think I know a little bit about building a system, and can, therefore, talk "shyt".

Your reactor subs are NOT aluminum, they are chrome plated. They aren't a bad deal at all, they just aren't musical and have what we like to call Ghetto bass. They are limited in the fact that they only play certain frequencies well, and bottom out very easily if you put any power to them. And yes, I have owned a pair. Four of them infact. Their strong points are that they are cheap, durable, and don't require a lot of power. But the original post stated that he wants a system for under $1000, so I'm guessing the close we get to that dollar amount, the better his system is going to sound (in most cases). If he wants clean, musical bass, reactors are not the way to go.

which model subs do u have? mine are aluminum , im talkin bout the speaker were the music comes out that part is aluminum,if u heard my system u would feel it vibreate, what size amp do u have? my speakers have very good bass hittin action,if u find me a link or what ever for yur old reactors id like to c which 1's u had.once i get money im gettin the square kickers, probly 2 12's and a 760 watt exploid amp

 

I had the PPI 1400. I traded it for an engine and transmission for my firebird. Trust me on this one. The reactors are not aluminum, post a pic or a model number or something. The are very few companies that make aluminum subs, and reactor is not one of them. I had a set of 12's and I installed 4 10's in a friend's car. The speaker cone is very reflective right? And it flexes pretty well, it is the Chrome coated poly-something or other cone.
