keyless entry...
Anyone put in a keyless entry system? I want to put one in but I heard that it was pretty complicated...
If you've done it give me some advice...
Thanks, Mike

I installed a complete alarm system including keyless entry, trunk release, dual shock and dual radar sensors, and other goodies in one night. This was my first alarm install (having an alarm with built-in relays helped). Installing just a keyless entry system should be easy.
... Best Advice: Read the instructions. If you don't understand something then ask.

Alarm installations are time consuming, but not difficult. As long as you have the right tools you should have no problems.
I'm sure you know this but keyless entry requires power door locks.

Yeah, I just heard that with all of the relays that you have to install that it gets complicated. What were the keyless entry systems you guys used with the built in relays?

Its been awhile since I've worked on one, but relays aren't usually built in...they are either supplied with the alarm unit or you pay extra for them.
All you do is mount them in an appropriate spot, wire them into the alarm unit, and wire them into the switch you want energized.

I put an Ungo start/lock combo into my bird. It was a bit tough for me, but just because It didn't have very much in the way of instructions. Basically said "this wire needs to be connected to X wire in the car" Nothing about location. It was a fairly flawless install, except for when I connected the "brains" and one of the chips went up in smoke. Turned out it was flawed from day 1. I'm getting a replacement unit sometime soon, i hope...

I have a DEI python 1000 installed in my 89 bird with keyless entry, dual-stage shock sensors and a proximity sensor so I can leave my t-tops off and not worry about the car. I also am a manager for the local Car Toys and see these things installed every day. My suggestion is to HAVE IT PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED.. there is way to much wiring to do and even with 9 years as a Radio Shack manager, I wasn't about to even try to figure it out.. just my .02 BTW... you will need two relays for the door triggers, and actuators if you don't already have power locks
