Amp selection for older Kicker Solobaric's

I have purchased a pair of 12" Kicker Solobaric's off my buddy who has never used them because he couldn't afford an amp. The subs are 2 years old. They are rated at 600 peak, 300 RMS. I'm having a hard time deciding on amps. Anyone have any suggestions? Looking at prices $600(U.S.) and under.

My friend has two 10" solo's with 2 Alping v12 amps powering them. I have a 12" solo powered by an Alpine v12 t-757. My friend had a solo, now he's into JL and xtant. He wishs he had his Alpine amps. They're great quality and good bang for buck, I'd look into them and then maybe kicker amps. Also heard good things about them. Good subs need good amps to sound great.

If you want to slam them, I would suggest an Audiobahn or an MMATS, and since I'm sure that dallasiroc will post right after me, I'll beat you to it; Autotek. All are great companies making a great amp that will fit what you need.

Ha, dallas, beat you!

Our old style solo's can handle quit a bit of power, just make sure the enclosure is sealed tight.
Power them with any good amp that is stable and won't drive the woofer into distortion.
For the money you set, a ZR360 or ZR600 Kicker amps would be great. And then add an RGX module so you can have full gain control up front.

Good luck!

Ive got a ZR600 on my round solo 12s. It made over 800 watts (400 per subwoofer). They love the power.

Hey, wanna buy the ZR600? Its for sale. Make an offer.

I've read up on Kicker's DX700 model and it seems perfect. Does anyone have any comments about this amp and how it compares with the ZR600. How much more is the DX700 over the ZR600.

With either one of these amps would I need to upgrade any part of electrical system such as my battery, alternator. Would I need a cap for either one?

Well, I have just happen to have a DX700. Awesome power! I have it running a single new square solo 12, and it is more than I really need (although the sub cries for more power!) They run like $800 US if I remember correctly. The current draw is amazingly low with this amp. I am running the stock charging system, and powering 2 ZR120's for the rest of the system with no problems at all, and I beat up on the system quite a bit. I have even played it fairly loud for an outdoor party for up to an hour at a time and not had any issues with battery power (I have the largest Exide Nascar battery you can get.)

Now, about the reliability of the amp......
I have been slightly disappointed. I went through like 3 of them in the first couple months of having it, and I wasn't even cranking it up much! The last one I got quit working (went into protection mode) and the shop sent it back to Kicker for me. THey replaced some sort of component and did some kind of update, and it sounds even better now. After the second amp died, the shop installed the amp, and checked everything I did, and saw no problems, so they were satisfied that I did nothing wrong. THe only thing we could come up with is my charging voltage was pretty high at startup. I changed the alternator, and the amp ran for a few months without problem. Hopefully whatever they did when they repaired it will be a lasting repair!

I still reccomend it though!

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!
