Uniden Radar Detector

What's the word on these detectors? I've gone through two in the past few months. I had the 6499, but it went off like crazy with no radar anywhere in sight. I upgraded to the 6599 when they couldn't replace the original, and it seemed fine for about a week. The Ka band flashes about every two minutes. I don't have the cash to spend on the Valentine One and I've been told Uniden should be good. What's the deal here?

Change the setting from highway to city mode...this should filter out stray freqs, but may also filter a valid bogie.

Also study the locations where the detector starts going off.....if you drive by these areas often with the same problem it may be just local interference.

Sorry about not having the money for a V-one.
They are indeed pricey but very much worth the cost.

The last time that it went off on the highway, I had about two car lengths warning. I understand instant on, but there were cars in front of me and I had no warning. Does anyone have a Uniden?

Well personally I built a jammer..I know the FCC rues but they cannot bust what they cannot see..I built it into the grill area of my front end and well 2 cops freinds in my town cannot track me until I am past them...And I builf it to emit 7 watts and cost me about 150 bucks...It does jam all 3 radar bands but does nothing for lazer...

Instant on is just that....a cop isn't gonna switch it on unless he thinks someone is speeding. You can't assume poor sensitivity since you have no idea exactly when the cop used before you got close to him

Well, Camaro_hunter, you've definitely got my attention. Blueprints available?

I have an old Uniden, and I love it. It's a little sensitive, but I only pay attention to it if it starts freaking out. But I would LOVE to lean how to build a jammer too!
