anybody know about those cheapie "equalizer/amps"?
Guys, I'll be honest with you, I don't know crap about stereo stuff. I do know that most decent cheap aftermarket cd players are DIN and ours is 1.5DIN. I see a lot of real cheap "equalizer/amps" that are .5 DIN. I was thinkin use a 1DIN deck and a .5DIN eq for a pretty cool setup. How do those eq/amp things work? Do they plug in to the deck? What do they do? Are they any good? ETC ETC
thanks.
thanks.

the eq/boosters are crap. A passive EQ from a reputable name (clarion, Pioneer, etc) will work great but needs to run into an amp.

Those cheap EQs with a built in amp are junk.
Don't waste your money on one. Put that money towards a better HU.
If you don't want one of the 1.5 DIN HUs available you can always use a mounting kit to install a single DIN HU.

They suck A fairly good example of how they work would be "winamp" or Windows media player" they just do the same thing that the adjustment bars on those programs do.
dont buy a cheapO eq. If you have a after market 1 din radio the mounting kit is only 10$ at walmart. If you want some performance from you radio i can recomend a cheapo product that i like and is comparable with all high end eqiptment and that is a "road gear" amp walmart special the 220 watt amp is only 80$ and the distortion levels are .02%@ 50rms per channel thats better than most MTX amps. so as far as the eq goes forget it and buy one of these amps you will get more performance out of it and if you dont like it you can always take it back GL

Everyone here knows whats up, those things suck. I had one in my original setup back when i had my old car, it ran from a line out in the in dash and powered a set of 6x9s. Almost the worst $40 (radio shack) i ever spent, it sounded like total___, very distorted at even meduim volume and the EQ wasn't even strong enough to make it sound better al low vol. Just posting my 02, as always.
