Paging Jim, question for you
Jim,
Was reading the post where you were saying some amps bought from ebay might have been b-stock and asked if the serial # ended in a Z .
I find it interesting that you can get very high end equipment from places like the Zeb and sound domain for near cost, and they claim everything is brand new, never used, and is manufactured for the US.
so what's the deal, are these places actually selling products inferior to what the dealers sell ?

"cost" isn't what you think it is. Most car audio equipment, including Rockford has a 100% markup. That means a $600 amp has a $300 cost. BUT, most companies require authorized dealers to sell at or above a pre-determined minimum. If a company sells below that minimum, it means that they are not an authorized dealer, or that they won't be for long.
I've gotta do some more digging, but I believe that the serial number of "B" stock equipment carries a "Z" on the end of the serial number. I'm not sure if Rockford still does that though.

I know what cost is, I'm in the business as well. But I mean, thezeb for example sells the focal 165 w components for $650, they retail for a grand. I don't consider $150 to be that much above cost. This is just one example, but it seems most places are selling equipment for about 10 to 15 percent above dealer cost.
