Blaupunkt cd players
as many of you have probably already read, my dad is the manager of a high end sports car / luxury used car lot. he said that he can take out all aftermarket items and give them to me to throw on the camaro im getting in may. well im come home today, and there is a box sitting on the table, i assumed it was a cd player but i went over and looked. it turns out there is a blaupunkt cd player there with a note saying.. "Here is the first peice to your car, i took it out of a 91 Z today, take car of it and well install it together in may, your father." It is the RPD 435 with 35x4 output. i will be hooking up 2 12" subs and prolly 2 amps to it and i listen to rap / hip hop and a little alternative. will this be a good cd player or should i go to the body shop and try and swap it for something else?

blaupunkts are fine. I've got 2 of them, the original Alaska , and a top of the line munchen. Great fm tuners on those guys. CD quality is on par with others, and i love how they offer a different look than the typical "star trek" look of japanese players.

They make a nice product. Many people, however, don't care for the styling and, also, it's not really easy to find someone who sells them so most average people know very little.

i think Blaupunkt is good stuff. Ive never heard any of the speakers.. but my brother has a Blaupunkt CD player in his car and it does the job quite well. From what it sounds like.. you said you were gonna hook some subs up. You need to buy an amp to power them becuz youll ruin the cd player if you power them off that. Am i the only one that picked up on this? Its funny that you say your dad owns a Sports Car/ Luxary Car Dealership... cuz i heard Blaupunkts come stock in most rare Luxary cars.. heh, damn

The performance is good, but I personally don't like the way they are laid out, ergonomically speaking. They are also nice because they don't attract a lot of attention as well. YOu can tell if you can hook it up to an amp if there are some preamp outputs, or RCA plugs at the back of the radio. If you are wanting 2 amps, you better make sure the radio has 4 pre-amps.

... you can split one set of RCAs to 2, or 3, or 4 using splitters .... the trick is figuring out how to do both fade and balance and sub level without 3 sets of pre-outs.

Blaupunkt is what BMW uses as "factory" stereo!! I hear they're decent! I like my Kenwood 515S tho'.....it's sweet!
