Alternative(s) on replacing my CD deck.....
I was thinking on buying some sponge foam (that you get at an arts & crafts store) and wrap the CD deck w/ it so that it won't skip as much due to the extreme bass hits. Is this a good idea or can the CD player get too hot & burn the crap up?
Or should I just buy a cd changer (Clarion, might as well match the deck) cause I hear that those things (changers) hardly EVER skip.

Adding that foam around the deck wont help. If bass can travel through someguys trunk, throught the wall, and into my house, that little bit o foam wont stop it Plus, it will heat up like you said. Best bet is to get a player that has some electronic skip protection built into it.

I would assume that wrapping you HU in foam would cause overheating problems.
A small foam block wedged underneath and on top should work, but allow space for air to flow around the HU. Try not to block the vents on the HU.
Look here https://www.thirdgen.org/messgboard/...ML/000926.html for more discussion about basically the same topic.

Foam isn't going to help it. If anything, it'll be worse. I've found that setting a cd player on a soft surface makes it worse than if it's rigidly mounted. By rigidly mounting it, the vibrations dispurse. By isolating it from the chassis, the vibrations are contained within the deck.

Would a CD changer be a good alternative then? Where would be a good spot to put it as well? Thanx
