Jl 12 W6
I am looking at the 12 inch JL W6, if i hooked up a good amp to this sub would it be enought to rattle my car with only one sub? How would it compare to like 2 12 ich JL WO's or W3's?

1 should be enough as long as you give it enough power. My 1 10W6 with 300RMS watts shakes things up pretty good.

I was running a single 12W6 with 450 watts RMS worth of Phoenix Gold power in a ported box. It was enough to make you not see straight. I don't have any official numbers though.

I've hit 133 at the seat with a 10W6 sealed and 500 watts.
BUT, the W3 is a louder sub then the W6. Unless you are talking about the new W6's just released (retail is $450 for a 12 though).

Car: too many ...
The W6 series is mostly for sound quality. The W0's and W3's will boom just as hard as a W6, but the difference will be in how tight and deep the bass is and how good it sounds inside the car. If you just want to rattle your car, I would go with 2 of the W0's or W3's over a single W6. If you value sound quality (like me) I would spend the extra cash for the W6's. I'm going to be running 2 12W6's in the Qforms trunk box in my camaro.

W1 = discontinued entry level sub
W0 = redesigned entry level sub, with newer technology on how the sub was built
W3 = a cross between the SPL and sound quality of a W6, but with the new tricks used in the W0 to make it handle more power and play louder
W6 = originaly, the flagship sub of JL, now redesigned to be like a baby W7
W7 = current flagship jl sub.
My favorite for SPL / SQ mix is the W3. Actually, I think the W3 sounds just as good as a W6 in SQ as well, and it's definately louder.

I've got one JL 12W6 in a small box. It would shake the heck out of the car when I was using my brothers 500a2 Fosgate.
Too much bass for me. I got a lower powered amp since my bro wanted his back and it does really good, it's a 200watt Fosgate, model slips my mind at the moment.

handle more power
Why is the 10W3 rated at 250 RMS, and the 10W6 rated at 300RMS? Not only that, but the W6 has a larger magnet and a bigger voice coil.
I had the chance to try both the 10W3 and 10W6 in the same box with the same amp last week. I was going to go with (2)W3's because everyone kept telling me how good they were. I installed just one in a temp. box and when I turned it up it made me nervous. It looked like I could see the cone moving side to side at high excursion levels. So I took those back and traded for some 10W6's and hooked up 1 W6 in the same configuration. It seemed to be a lot more controlled and clean. Maybe it's just my bias to W6's that made it sound better. Anywayz, I'm a happier person with the W6's
