Help please!

Ok guys......I put that sub in that I was talking about (1 12" infinity reference running 225 watts to it) and I was thinking that I'd be able to beat my friends in sound contests. and I still can't, they are running 100wx2 and I'm running 225 watts with a higher spl rating too. they have rockfords. I'll crank my stereo almost maxed out and shut my door, you can't hear/feel anything. if you get in the car you can't see there is soo much bass, but there isn't any going outside of the car. any help would be cool. I gotta beat my friends :-) lata

spl is so much more then subs and power. What kind of enclosure do they have, what kind of enclosure is yours ? what size and how many subs do they have ? What kind of amp do you have, and is it really a 225 watt amp ? (not a Crunch or Kenford or something).

You already have a car that is great for moderate SPL .

he has 2 punch 10's ? or 12's ? either way, you'll need a really nice single 12 with alot more power to catch up. A profile amp isn't exactly alot of power.

Not familiar with infinity subs, but if you can make a ported box, tuned high (like maybe 40 hz), you will get a noice bump in volume. Assuming the infinity can work in ported. Might not sound as good, but will be louder.

You want to be loud with only 1 sub ? Get a JL12W3, and put between 500 to 1000 watts on it. Might cost some $$, but i think you'll be pleased.

What kind of equipment ya got in the car? Is it stock speakers with 1 12" sub? Where is it placed? What angle is it at? Never heard of your type of amp before....but I can honestly say that if it's a piece of junk....your not gonna hear much outside the car ;-)

I had my Punch XLC's hooked up to a 600 watt Pro something amp.....sounded like total crap. I bought a Fosgate 200a4 and they SLAMMED in comparison...even though the wattage dropped.

I've got my interior all dynamatted (well at least the floor pan and back area of my extra cab) and even with all the dynamat...I can still hear it thumping outside the truck when I want to.....with the windows down anyway. If I roll em up....don't hear much.
