time for a new amp..

well ive had a few amps pushing a few different set of subs in the 2 years ive been driving. i had cheap 10" subs w/ a little pioneer amp that sounded decent, then i got a set of MTX 5000 10" subs, and at that time i had a 500 watt Jensen amp (ive come out of the closet) in a custom made sealed box...and it sounded great. well the jensen died, and i traded it for an MTX, which sounds horrible...i dont even remember the wattage, it just sucks. so i want to get a real amp now...i will be getting new speakers all around for X-mas (want to replace crappy brand of 4x6's and my tired pioneer 6x9's) and i want to get a nice amp to drive those subs too...this way my **** will sound good. i believe my subs rms at like 250 watts, so i want something close to that for each channel. the only catch is i must keep it fairly cheap...so im open for suggestions, please help guys

Most any amp not sold at walmart or pepboys is good. I like Alpine V-12s or Phoenix Gold amps(if you have the cash for one)
