ok i have a bd1000a1, and 2 rockford hx2's with 2 4ohm drivers a peice, so i can only wire them to either a 4 or 1 ohm load so will it be safe to run my Rockford bd1000a1 at 1ohm? it is rated at 2 ohms. But i have heard that rockford amps can preform well past what they say. please get back to me soon i want to wire these babies up! thnx

I melted my RF 60.2 amp when I ran it at 1 ohm... a bunch of people on the internet did it, so I figured I could. Yeah, yeah, I know... good thing they weren't jumping off bridges!
Once in a while, it would shut off (even with two cooling fans on it), which wasn't a big deal. Then one hot day, I was cranking it up, I heard a "snap" (not from the speakers), and smelled that wonderful smell that an exploded capacitor usually puts out. The amp worked no more, and stunk up my car bad.
One of these days I'll have to dive into it and see if I can find the bad cap.
The PITA is that if I spent $80 more, I could've had an amp that was meant to run at 1 ohm. I guess that wasn't one of my smarter choices, eh?
