I thought strokers were the best??

are they not. Thats what ive been hearing. I really like cerwin vega, always have been a big fan.
I got a 87 Trans am, and I want to put in a pair of 12" or one 15". I have a 15" old XL cerwin in my lil nissan stanza, and I love it. I have 2 10" in my wifes sunfire and that bumps like crazy.....
What would be better:

a pair of 12's, or one 15" in the back of my Trans am????

15"s always sound so lower but than 12s, but not sure if there is enough air space in there.

How much air space is in a Trans am anyway (cubic ft)???

And where can I get a quality custom box in the Los Angeles area, I am willing to drive if i have too!!!!!

thanks..........

Cerwin Vegas make pretty good subs. There are a lot of different subs out there, and to say who makes the best is really a matter of opinion when you really get down to it, because it depends on your application. If you're trying to decide which will give you louder bass between two 12"s and one 15", go with the two 12"s.The two 12"s have more cone surface area to move more air than one 15", so you will have more output. And yes, there is plenty of air space for two 12"s back there . As a matter of fact,I'm about to put four of them back there in mine. If you want a box for the two 12"s, you can go to just about any car audio shop and they should be able to order you a pre-fab box that will fit perfect in the cargo well in the third gens.

Extremely good installers that know the Strokers well will tell you that they are fantastic. Most everybody else will say that they are junk. The reason is, the Strokers have adjustments that can actually allow the user to change some of the Thiele/Small parameters of the driver. This is an amazingly powerful adjustment for those that know how to do it, and the results will be a fantastic sounding driver that was perfectly matched to your specific installation and your specific interior. Very powerful. BUT, to the average joe it's just another sub, and if he doesn't know what he's doing, it could wind up sounding like a Pyramid sub.

My opinion:

I am very partial to Kicker. Been running kickers for about 7 years now (My 12's that are in my Olds were used when I got them, and they still sound awesome) I just installed my new 12 Solo-baric in my Camaro Friday, along with a Kicker DX700 amp, and it is awesome! The downside of the install is that I have about $1350 invested right now, and the amp isn't even permanently mounted, and the rest of the system isn't done! It would probably cost around $1800 for what I have and mounting the amp to have it done at a shop.

I still believe Kickers are the best, but that's just my opinion!

Block is in shop!

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

I'm a huge Kicker fan too, but to compare any kicker sub to a Stroker is like comparing a camaro to a Ferrari. Both great in their own respect, but in totally different classes. There is a reason that strokers are $700+ per sub.

KICKERS R 4 ME TOO.
I HAVE 2 15in kickers in my camaro and they sound great. They can sound better once i get my new box and amp. I only have 200W going to each. and they can take 500W. i would go with strokers or Kicker Solo Barics. The only problem with both of those subs is that you need a LOT of power. like a 1000W per sub. Good Luck

Knighthawk, Strokers are the best however, they require so much air space and power it isn't a good choice for yout TA. For example the 15" calls for a 3.8 cubic foot ported enclosure. That is slighty larger than the entire hatch well area. In order for them to sound well you will need about 600 True Clean WATTS!!! Very few amps are capable of this. Pro-Logic makes an enclosure for two 15 inch subs with about 1.5 cubic feet per side. A kicker comp or xpl will tear your hatch off with about 200-300 watts in this set up! I am speaking from experiance because I am running it with a PPI 500 IQX amp, along with a 200 IQX on my fronts and rear. When I get a scanner, I'll send pics.
