What aftermarket speakers fit in dash?
Anyone know where I can get new speakers that will fit in the factory oval openings in the dashboard? My car is a 92z. Looking for some good speakers to go with my Rockford 450.4 amp.

Is 4x6 correct? The oval measures like 3.75x5.25". That's a bit conservative but still smaller than 4x6"
Just want to make sure.

As far as I know 4x6 were standard for the dash and 6x9 were standard for the sail panels. I'm sure someone else can confirm.

If you buy from this company, or it's dealers, you will never be disappointed.

Re: What aftermarket speakers fit in dash?
As for fitment, you have to look and measure accordingly. If memory serves me correctly (in which it doesn't always, so I would double check) I think that the maximum speaker depth is 1-7/8" or 1-11/16". Anything deeper than that and they'll hit the ECM mount and HVAC passages (in lieu of drop in/plug and play). Deeper speakers will require some modification to the above listed clearance problem areas.
Keep in mind that you can also run Ø4" components or two way speakers in that location as well. You can either buy or make (if you wanted) a conversion mount to run the Ø4" round speaker in a 4"x6" space.

Re: What aftermarket speakers fit in dash?
Thanks for the info. For the front mounting depth doesn't matter for me. The entire dash is gutted so I have plenty of room. No AC or anything.

Well in that case, you could also try an mod in either 5-1/4" or 6-1/2" components. I've never tried it in the dash, but if you gutted it, you may be able to get them to squeeze in there.
