Pics of my custom flat sub box install
I just wanted to share some pics of my custom built sub box that I put in my camaro. I'm happy with the way it came out for the most part.
I designed it like this so that I could make use of my trunk area, especially for putting the ttops back there without having the subwoofers get in the way.
I've got two 10" kickers in this box (they are hidden under the carpet). They hit plenty hard enough for me in this box. The carpet is on a top board that sits on top of the actual sub box so that the subwoofers actually sit below it. So if I lay anything across as long as it doesn't poke down into the hole for the sub itself the object will not be touching the subs.
I will say also, I'm not to happy about the diffence in the carpet. I ordered the carpet for that top board a couple weeks ago and had replaced the carpet in my car about 6 months ago. Had not realized it had faded so much already, so I'm debating replacing the carpet in my cargo area again just so that it matches lol.
One last thing, it is sitting a tad higher than I wanted atm (about 3/16" high). I'm going to pull the box back out next weekend and try to modify the bottom side a little to see if I can get it to set a little lower.

Re: Pics of my custom flat sub box install
Excellent work! It looks great and makes good use of the space.
I did something similar but only had a single 10" sub to box in. I used the well like you did but used the driver side for my amp and the passenger side for the sub. At first, I was concerned that heat build up from the AMP would kill it, but is has been in there over 10 years without a problem.

i just did that install over the summer. the only things i did different was i left the subs visible, ported the box, and put two 2 inch fans in the vent to pull hot air out.

I did something similar but only had two JL 12"sub to installed in a custom box. I used the well like you did but used the floor under the box for my amp and. At first, I was concerned that heat build up from the AMP would develope, but is has been in there over 15 years without a problem. Then I had a piece of carpet embroiderer to cover the seam and whole area. The carpeting will lay flat after backing is attached to underside to add weight........
