Re: Can you mount amp to box?

Depends on the amp and thats only half true, if youre running an old xtant amp with the micro switches they can shake off but it wont cause damage, since ive only seen one of those beasts in such a great while im doubting thats what youve got.

Also unless youre pushing retarded power thru some high end subs you cant shake it apart like 2 w7'S lol mount it on the box youll be fine ive got my dbdrive amp pushing around 600 watts thru my type r 12 with the amp on the box and no problems.

There will be nay sayers but things have changed with the audio game, things are much more durable now

Just for kicks what are you running?

Re: Can you mount amp to box?

I just have some crap I am throwing together ,
Head unit ....Panasonic CQ-DFX983U 50w x 4
Sub............Kenwood KFC-W3514DVC (peak power 1500 w)
Amp............Crunch pza 1500.1 or I have a Kicker KX 1200.1
I found plans for a box on this site , but my subs are too big so I am going to run one only.

It'll be fine - heck all I have is a shelf built acreoss the back, with one 10, one 'empty' grill, and the amp is mounted to the underside out of sight. No problems after 2+ years like this.

I did it, only cut one sub hole and use the other side to run wires inside put a hole in the top and mount the amp over it

Re: Can you mount amp to box?

I custom built my sub box and mounted the amp On top of a rubber coated mat surrounded by dynomat. The amp shakes a bit but not enough to do any damage at all

Re: Can you mount amp to box?

unless the amp is built extremely poorly, you wont have any issues. however, it does make things a little easier for thieves to steal.

Re: Can you mount amp to box?

You could mount it straight or use a mat as dylanjessy said, but electronic stores also sell small rubber squares for computers ($5 American) and they're about as think as your ring finger, won't melt... at least when I used them. They're great for dampening vibration for cheap.

Re: Can you mount amp to box?

You won't damage your amp unless it's extremely poorly built. I have my kicker amp mounted on top of my twin 12's and it flexes my doors and my amp has no problems, your definitely in the clear on this one.
