Whats the best way to have that extra kick a sub gives you without using a lot of space?

Re: Subs?
I took a piece of 3/4" board and simply made a shelf that just sits in the lower well on the small humps on each side. I have a single 10" sub mounted, with the amp mounted underneath, then i have 2 12" grills on the top - so it looks symetrical and like I have 2 subs when I only have one.
It's true that the best sound comes from a sealed box (unless you have free air subs), but this method works fine and I get a nice sound without rattling the windows on the neighbors houses.

Re: Subs?
to get the most out of a sub, you'll want build an enclosure that's correctly sized to your sub's specs. my last install used the bottom half of the well and a single 12" - still plenty of room for in the back for storage, t-top bag still fit without issue, and plenty of boom

Re: Subs?
i thought about if someone did what the 4th gens have. in the back, on the side there is a sub box, leaving the hatch with as much room as it had stock.
i'm sure someone can cut the interior piece to have one fit.

Re: Subs?
i've searched around and from what i saw no one makes it themselves. they say the dimensions arent a fixed number, however i found some sites that have them.

Re: Subs?
If you want to get creative, you can seal up the sail panels like I did and install a set of 8" woofers in there.

They're not the loudest out there, but then I'm only feeding them about half the power they're capable of handling. Gives the system that little bit extra low that it was lacking, perfectly compliments the Pioneer 4X6 dash speakers. I also have all of my cargo space

Re: Subs?
For what concern audio quality, is this solution better than the other with sub placed down in a box (most of you have this solution).

Re: Subs?
The sub can fire up or down (into the box). There is no difference in sound quality, but a sub firing up takes up less room and you can use a sub grille.

Re: Subs?
Personally, I would put a single 10" in the very bottom of the trunk area.

Re: Subs?
i'm sure the passenger side would be easier considering you can just take that one piece off.

Re: Subs?
Pass side has the spare tire in there though.
I know I know ... I've not needed a spare tire in over 20 years either - but, with my luck, the minute I don't have a spare I'll have a blowout!
