Mids and Bass, no box, suggestions?

OK, so I have an 83 with the lockable trunk hatch and inside that is my nitrous bottle so at all costs I do not want to sacrifice that. My stereo consists of a Pioneer pullout head unit, and alpine type-R interior speakers. It has nearly no midbass and absolutely no bass. Does anyone have any suggestions? I thought about putting a slim 10 behind my seat but I don't want to have to replace the t-tops every time I leave the car. I haven't actually taken a look at the rear side panels to see what they look like but any way I could stuff something into them? With the rear speakers? Oh and my door panels are mint so there is no way I will be cutting them up. Thanks in advance.

well you have two options that i can think of.

1. get rid of the spare tire and create a mount for a shallow sub and hide it back there which i think has been done i just haven't seen the post in awhile

2. the only other option is get rid of the alpines and cut some mdf to fit in the rear speaker location then mount a 5in sub and a good small speaker above it

You can get creative and fit a set of 8" subs there, I've heard of 10" infinite baffle subs there too. I sealed up the space in the sail panel and set up a pair of 8" Kenwood Excelon subs there. They ended up sounding pretty good, the bass isn't going to rattle your teeth, but you can tell it's there. Check out the install here...

SWEET MAN! I looks like there would be room for a tweeter in there too so I'm not sacrificing all the highs.
