anyone make custom kick panels?
I know they are offered from Q-Form. Heard those were not to good so was wondering if anyone on these forums are still making them?

Not a direct answer to your question but useful info anyway. Even with a mold, "custom", kick panels are still pretty labor intensive. Expect to pay more than you would for a pair of Qforms...probably $100 more at least.

Re: anyone make custom kick panels?
qforms as-is are not great. however, with some additional reinforcement, they can come out looking and working better than your average diy. Last set I had got 3 layers of fiberglass cloth and some non-hardening modeling clay added to the back. looked a lot better than my fabbing skills could do and a fraction of what a custom set would run.
its unfortunate, but there used to be a couple of board members around here that used to make them, but no more.

Re: anyone make custom kick panels?
I really want to find time to make more of them, but who knows when that'll actually happen. Maybe one of these days I'll have time to get together with somebody with more fiberglass molding experience than I have who can help me make better molds. The ones I created are so bad that I wind up with 20+ hours invested in each set, and with a home/wife/kid/car projects I just don't have anywhere near that kind of time to invest anymore.

there's a guy down here at the mall that quoted me 600 for a set of fiberglass kick panels that he make's he said that it would take him a whole day to do, I found the price a bit high for me so I might just try making my own.

There were a series of videos that I had at one time called "M.E.C.P." (Mobile Electronics Certification Program.) They had a video called "Miracle door panels" It was really cool and made the process really easy. You could always try searching for them. HTH!

I had those videos too! Many moons ago I went to Mobile Dynamics Toronto and got MECP certified. Making kicks and all kinds of other things from fiberglass is not really that difficult. You just need to be careful and patient. The tools and materials are really basic and can be purchased at your local Walmart for the most part.
