Sound of CD spinning coming through speakers/sub

I have a kenwood mp142 head unit with two kicker 5 1/4s in the dash (wired directly to the head unit), two kicker 6X9s in the sail panels (wired to a kicker amp) and two kicker 10" subs (wired to a kicker amp). When I play a CD, I get what sounds like noise from the CD spinning (the best way to describe it is like the sound of a helicopter blade spinning; it is low frequency/bass sounding) and is especially prominent when changing tracks, but it is present (although very low) during music. This noise is not present when using the AM/FM radio or Aux input sources. The head unit has been in since last october/november and worked fine (no noise, etc.), but I just completed interior restoration so everything was apart for a few months, and now it is making this noise. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Sound of CD spinning coming through speakers/sub

is the noise coming through all of the speakers? or just one set (deck powered vs amp powered)? if the noise is not coming from any other source, there may be an internal ground/noise issue with the cd player; not something fixed easily by a DIY'er

Re: Sound of CD spinning coming through speakers/sub

So I took the unit to a Kenwood Service Dealer. I wasn't there 5 minutes and the guy already knew what was wrong. Apparently the unit wasn't properly grounded. I grounded it using the harness ground, but he said that if you are using an amp that you need to use an additional ground that screws in at a point on the back of the head unit. He brought me into the back and showed me exactly what the problem was by hooking lines up to it. It will be fixed within a few days.
