Amp in protection mode?
Here's the deal. I have a old crossfire amp(cfa202). I am running one kicker c12 off of it bridged at 4 ohms which should not be a problem. After playing it for 5 minutes it starts to cut out and goes into full protection. Even if I run it in stereo mode off one channel it does the same thing. All of my connections are right. I thought it was clipping and then going into protection mode.....this is not the case, it happens even when my gains are turned completly down! Any ideas?

Re: Amp in protection mode?
Well I just switched the subs out and it seemed to fix the problem. We will see. Upon closer inspection of the first sub I found that it had a bad connection where the voice coil wire connects to the terminal on the basket. It looked like it was cut and reattached at one time so it was probably shorting out.

Re: Amp in protection mode?
depending on where it was cut out you might be able to resolder the tinsel lead to the terminal and have a fully functional sub again.
