While I don't own either deck, I do know that a Double-DIN will require modifying the dash, as GM only set us up with 1 1/2 DIN openings

I have the JVC AVX820 installed in my 2008 frontier. Like 1A Dan said you will have to do some custom work to get it to fit in the car. The depth of the unit isn't a problem its the size of the body that gonna give you problems. Our cars have a din and a half opening while the jvc unit is double din.
As far as the functionality of the radio i love it! The bluetooth works great! The unit has a USB cable for your mp3 players, but i don't really use it because you can just stream songs straight to the radio through bluetooth. The unit doesn't work with an Ipod unless you buy the Ipod cables. The picture quality is great also. The unit also has a rear view camera input. The amp has great power also. I popped my factory speakers in my truck on the day i installed the unit.
My only complaints are that you can't upload your own pictures to the unit. I don't really like any of the backgrounds that JVC provided. I find myself playing around with the background colors, and patterns every time i power the unit up. Also, unless you turn the brightness and dimmer all the way down the light from the display will blind you at night.

I been thinking about doing the same thing with my Third gen. I did do a custom job and make a double din fit in my 96 SS and it looks great imo. I was kinda wondering the same if anyone has actually done this or is it worth the hassel.

Re: Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD Or JVC KW-AVX820 double din
MY Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD
This is what i did to my Camaro, i took the face plate out made some measurements and some cuts, also took out the back plate from the inside of the dash that holds the radio to not drop in more then its limited to do so, you will see it once you take your radio out. unscrewed the temperature controller and put the unit right in then pressed a little with the temperature control plate on the unit so that holds it in place real good screwed the control plate back and put the face plate back on.
It dose not move or vibrate its a real real tight fit.
only thing left is to put a trim on the sides because there is some space so i will post the rest of the pictures once i have done that.
