Im finally getting my stereo equipment in my camaro but i need some help

my uncle has a sub box from his 79 camaro he is willing to give me and i need to know if those sub boxes will fit in our cars?

also what do you guys think about sony explode subwoofers? if that subwoofer box will fit in my car im going to get 2 10" subs for the back

so if you guys can help me out it will be helpful

Our 3rd gens have an oddball hatch area, so the boxes out of the 79 probably wont fit. There are plans floating around this board on how to make a custom box for the well area, probably your best bet.

what he said... and the sonys arent great... you can pick up polk db for the same price as the sony

ya i put in a couple systems with db subs they are cheap and good, i got one in the truck and it sounds great for one 10in. also maybe look into powerbass they are good and cheap too i had a pair of 12in and i liked them you can find them for around 50 60 bucks. what do you got for an amp because that matters on what you get. on the box i would do a quick search on the internet for a box made for our cars and watch ebay and put a wanted on this website

yeah, well the reason i asked about the sony xplode is because walmart is having a bundle sale with a Sony Xplod GT09HP head unit along with two 6 x 9 3 way speakers and two 6.5 2 way speakers

i was going to get that along with two 12" subs

ull be happy with the speakers, it the combo for like 95 dollars right( can beat that)? but for subs u might as well get more for your money

yeah, the bundle is $77 and the subs are $70 each but i think it would be worth it, are they good for bass?

sony is pretty bad in car audio.....what i do is I do a bit of surfing in car audio forums...you'd be amazed how much ppl get rid of great stuff juss because it ended up not bein wut they expected...

but yeah stay away from sony....their tv's are great....and it isnt as bad as pyramid or pyle...but if you can get something better..even if its used....u'll thank urself for it....

If u do get em u are gonna call me crazy and u are gonna b like welll they arent soo bad....but once u compare em side to side to some polks or bostons u gonna be like ooooo he was r8 lol

oh guess who is getting 6x9 momos 6.5 component momos , and a polk SR12 sub =D.... i still debating on whether i should get the polk pa1100.5 amp.

the bundle sounds good to me( im under the impresion you just want a cheap base system) but for the subs, you can get much better quality ones for a lower price than the sonys, shoot i hate kicker comps but you can get them for 100 a pair, you can get polk dbs for 90 a pair i think

I would just go ahead and get the package deal if your strapped for money, ya sonys not the greats but it isn't bad specially all that for under a hundred dollars. My friend has a 12in xplod in his car and i hate the way it sounds, my db 10in sounds better to me then his 12in. also if you can check out ebay its the easiest way to hind good deals and they got 3rd gen sub boxs for like 85 bucks shipped also check out this website for subs www.sonicelectronix.com

Are u into SQ,SPL or SQL?

Polks are great...I just put a set of coax's in my dash a real nice sound for their size (5.25) and their not even amp'd or anything....the cone is filled with some sort of liquid which keeps em cool...

Im putting a set of memphis 15-MCS6 in the kick panels...and I had changed my pioneers to Jl's...and although the JL's were more expensive I ended up keeping the pio's....the bass was more precise than in the JL's and they have a wider frequency range.......


but yeah congrats on the new polk gear

more SQ but i do like to occasionally turn it up a notch. all polk tweeter are liquid filled i think. sad thing is i had just gotten all my infinitys in, but the polks are worth it.

i just need a good system in my car but i ont want anything thats cheap, so when i saw the sony deal i thought it was good, and yes i love bass systems which is why im looking at 12"s and iv heard that xplode was good for bass

i sell the camaro pre fab boxes at my work for a pretty good price http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+Trans-Am.html I think we are outta stock but i used to have this one u have to find a sub that somewhat not to deep to fit but the boxes sound decent and they just fit right in

Sony speakers/subs are good, but the amps are crap! My cousin was a manager of a car audio shop, this is his opinion, he's never been wrong to me before!

think of it this way.....

you are paying $70 for the Hu and 2 pairs of speakers..

so lets say 30 for the HU and 20 for each pair of speakers.

The store is already making a profit from it and so its sony......

so making that HU costs about $20.......Imagine how many corners they cut and how much that HU is gonna last.....




If u can save a good $120 Im pretty sure you can find a much better deal.I'll help u find it myself

i replaced a lot of sony stuff at my old job. they are ok product but don't last long. if i was you i would just deal with what you got tell you have the money for something that is going to last

Were do you live? I got hired because the old shop I worked at started to get so slow so I had to find a new job and they hired me on the spot.. You can get a job there as a sales rep with no experiance at all but I am there only tech which is crazy because we deal internationally but anyone can really get hired

yea they start at nine an hr to me thats low but you get a raise after like 90 days.. The place is located in Valencia Ca 91351 or somethin lol its pretty chill you just gotta be able to let me ppl yell ya n S**t all day haha
