I am trying to do something very much the same as this. I have the Motorola Maxx, with this phone if I plug it into a HDMI device that it will make that device interact just like the phone. When I want to do is get a monitor or something similar to install instead of my radio and plug the phone into the dash of the car. I can then access all the data on my phone on my cars dash. I listen to more radio coming from my phone then through the actual radio, less commercials. Anyone that has done a double din DVD replacement can you plug your phone and see everything on your phone on the car's screen? I hope that wasn't to confusing for what I am asking. Thank you all for your help!

I think what you really want is an AppRadio3, and then install the Airliberator app. It allows you to control your phone via the touch screen on the deck. So anything you normally do on the phone is now through the headunit.

The only drawback that I'm learning about this deck is that it doesn't have a dedicated sub out. Not sure why Pioneer cheaped out on that.

This is on my list of things to do to the car before next summer

I bought an AppRadio2 with ARLiberator in my Iroc and connect it to my Galaxy S3. The radio becomes my phone, I just leave my phone in the center console and control everything from the touch screen radio. It works perfectly. I also bought a bypass for the video on ebay. You can connect a backup camera and the radio has an external GPS antenna to use with the phones Navigation app.

Pioneer no longer let's you just ground the E-brake to see video but that part generates the proper signal to allow viewing the video.

I had a faceplate made by double d, ready to install but wanted to know how you guys supported the unit? If anyone can help it would be appreciated!

 

Easiest way is plumbers tape. Attatch it to the steel support under the dash and after you have the radio and everything wired and hooked together then place it on the threaded anchor on the back of the head unit. I used a "V" with two pieces of plumbers tape to help support the weight. Not only does this help hold the head unit, if someone breaks into the car to steal it, this will slow them down drastically.

used oem bezel, routered out a larger hole then filled in sides with abs.

You can buy an installation kit and that contains the abs shroud that goes around the radio. Also, it give you the brackets for mounting.

i used CA glue and baking soda to fill in the gaps. I made the brackets out of aluminum, had to shave the metal bracket in the back, as well as shave the bottom of the ac control panel metal brace but not remove it. also needed to form the vents on the back to accommodate the deeper radio size so it don't stick out so far. i wanted a more cleaner flush look

Does anyone have some 3D Printer skills to actually create a double din bezel for our cars. That would be a thing of beauty and a very clean look.
