Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
Looks good to me. Can I make a suggestion though, to accent them? I have tweeter similar to those in a little truck box that I had in my C20. I haven't had it hooked up since I added it though.
Thanks

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
For the accent you could either use a silver sharpie and do the outer ring of the tweeter or do some piping around the speaker hole filler that you installed the tweeter in. It's mostly up to you. I would say paint the grilles silver, but IDK if you can take the grilles off the tweeters to paint them or not.

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
That looks sweet. I would like to do that with my 91 camaro. Problem is my camaro has grill style speaker covers, and yours are flush... are they after-market covers? If so where can I pick some up? Thanks!

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
As I was makin them I was like oh man I hope they dont suck....but they didnt turn out too bad....
It all started as me n my dad were installing some new speakers in his car..I realized how much covers mudd the sound...specially with tweeters..so yeahhh just get urself some wood, take off the covers, use the covers as a template, trace em,cut em,sand em,paint them..good to go =]

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
Yeah, got rid of em completely.Havent had the chance to listen to a decent 4x6 yet....Once I get me a set of components I might do the same but with bigger holes (5 1/4 or 6.5)n stiffer wood(ewww lol)and mount the tweets on the A pillar to bring the soundstage up big time...maybe dynamat under the dash pad a bit....we'll see =]
Ive always wanted to mount some 6.5's in front of me like in those SQ setups...but at the same time I dont want my dash to rattle so yeahh....g2 figure that out.....

How does it sound only having highs up front?
I think id like some mids too.
Bass can stay in the back.

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
something like this, what the heck is the tech name for that?
YA know when ya get a mid and 1-2-3 tweets , maybe a horn all together like that?
Like ripping the center section out of a 4way 6x9.
Can't think of the name to search for one, not finding jack on the bay.

No not plates, what is it you call a set of mids n tweeters that come in a cluster like that. Not always a plate.

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
My tweeters came with mounting cups, theres a stud coming out from the magnet of the tweeter, which holds a plastic piece underneath the wood with a bolt.

Everyone should run out and do this.
Even with only 1 good workign tweet up front its like night n day.
You hear things you never heard before.

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
glad to see fellow thirdgen members tryin new things.
Now im just waiting on my speaker wire roll to arrive to mount my components
I mentioned before how I didnt like bass in my dash because of the rattle, for that Im gonna apply some fatmat (like dynamat)and some home sound deadening I have laying around (its pretty thin,I know, but figured it wouldn't hurt)
Im gonna mount the mids right on the dash, havent decided if Im gonna cover with speaker cloth or mounth the grills there.(Dont wanna call attention)
and for the tweets I will be trying this
http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...eter-pods.html
I'll try to keep mids and tweets as close as posible, and Im hoping that'll give me some more of an "on axis" response
Why dont I mount the tweets on the dash too? So that they point at my ears while staying close to the mids.
I just realized that dash speakers are a "blessing" You pretty much have the speakers in front of you, not by your feet, and besides maybe the windshield, there arent objects blocking the music from reaching your ears (of course if you wanna get technical sound bounces here and there, but I wont be competing or anything) so I will be giving this a try.

Re: What do y'all think? (tweeters)
I yanked the tweets off some 6x9s n screw em to the lower dash area.
only 1 works well though but its still night n day.
I got a big thread about it somewhere, comparing all the type of mat you can get and though a rigious process widdled em all down to the best bang for your buck. Which ends up being SmittyMats.com cheap cheap cheap, same as the rest.

This is not the thread for that discussion, you asked and I answered to be polite.
