Re: Most expensive speakers ever?!?!

It's interesting to see that Crutchfield is now carrying Focal, but trust me, those are no where near the most expensive speakers out there. Do a search for other Focal stuff, Rainbow, Morel, or Hybrid Audio. Stuff for deep pockets....

Re: Most expensive speakers ever?!?!

I had a set of Focal 165KP2's in my old mustang. They were those 6.5 speakers with a 1 inch (I think) tweeter. I had the 6.5 in the lower door and the tweeter mounted up on the dash facing the cabin. I had 200 watts running through each set, and those things were amazing...With the right set up in our cars, the only speakers you would need would a set of them, as they would over power (and have better sound quality) that a set of 6x9's and dash speakers.

That being said...spending 500-600 on a set of speakers is definitely not needed for every set up. In most cases the 6x9s and dash speakers work and sound great!

I just never realized then they could be that pricey lol. Too bad those are the only ones that fit our cars.

To my knowledge, our vehicles came with 4x6" speakers in the dash and 6x9" in the back; there are quite a few other speakers that will work without spending anywhere near that much money. Those speakers will not drop into any spot on these cars, although you can make them work.

Re: Most expensive speakers ever?!?!

I don't think that $600 is a lot of money for top quality components, but is probably overkill for a noisy car like a Camaro. I have the top of the line DLS 2 way components in my TL - they were $700 for the pair; but in all honestly were such a step up from the $300-$400 speakers it was a no brainer. The subs were very inexpensive, so it wasn't that big of a nut.

Crutchfield says the back ones are 9 6-1/2"

It also says there are front door speakers?

As long as you're unfamiliar with what good sound can truly be, you'll be satisfied with what you have--speaking as a longtime audiofool.

Re: Most expensive speakers ever?!?!

I have installed top end CDT components and the sound is amazing but not worth the price difference of a decent component set. $$ does not equal quality and $$ compared to $$$ or $$$$ doesn't make it that much better.

Re: Most expensive speakers ever?!?!

I run morel tweeters in my camaro and really like
them-cost about $75 each back in '93 or '94,so not
really too expensive. They are made in england.
In my porsche and saab i use european speakers:
french-made focal(some aren't all that expensive)
and audax, along with some dynaudio woofers in the
saab-made in denmark,these 6.5 woofers rock!!

Re: Most expensive speakers ever?!?!

I hate components and tweeters and all that crap. I don't want to hack a bunch of crap together, I just want damn speakers to go where they need to go! And they gotta sound good!

Once you have heard awsome sounding speakers or sat in a world winning IASCA car the $100 pyramid speakers just don't cut it. Although everyone has their price cutoff.

Rainbow - $10,000

There is nothing "base" about Focal components. lol

One of the nicest sounding speakers I've heard.
