Custom Box Size (Check Out)

I'm in need of "perfect" sizing of my back inner trunk size. I'm in need of wanting to make a custom subwoofer box; just need the dimensions and information on it. I have a 1989 Camaro RS. Black interior. (i'm looking into carpeting the box as well.

regards,
Timinsk

Re: Custom Box Size (Check Out)

Your best bet is to measure it yourself and build to your subwoofer's specs. If you are running 1 sub, it will need less air space than 2. Each subwoofer brand has it's own "perfect airspace" for each sub. I Custom built a box for my buddies solobaric square 15 for his camaro. It took a lot of measuring and math to get the dimensions correct for the airspace needed and so the box would have a "factory look and fit. Just like everything. Measure twice, Confirm everything, make a good blueprint, so you only have to make one cut.

Re: Custom Box Size (Check Out)

i have an 89 camaro and i just built a top that layed on top of the trunk area. i had to 12" subs in it and it sounded great. alot easier than building a box. it uses the trunk space as an enclosure.

Re: Custom Box Size (Check Out)

I just finished my custom box for my 1992 Camaro. I also put it in the well area. Here are the plans that I used to build the box but I used them as a guide to get the idea, always meassure and figure out how much air space your subs need.

Also if you want to see how my box turned out check out this thread..

Re: Custom Box Size (Check Out)

It was fairly easy tho, Just one sheet of 3/4 inch MDF and a good table and jig saw and you are in business. Building the bottom of the box was easy just a lot of small pieces, the top you have to custom make and fit yourself, all depending on how you want it too look. I went with the flush look all around just my opinion but I love the way it turned out and looks. Make sure you post a thread showing us your progress when you get started! I love car audio and love to see other peoples installs!

Glad I could help! Good luck on your build!

First off nothing is imposible, I have not seen 2 15's in the hatch of a thirdgen but I am sure it can be done. I have seen 3 12's tho so I know that can be done as well. I will try to find some pictures and post them here for you. Just one question are you sure you need all that bass in a thirdgen? I have 2 12's and in that hatch it sounds great but turned up all the way it is too much!
