4th gen Stereo dilemma

Alright guys I recently saw the thread about people using the 4th gen stereos in their cars. I cannot stand the look of aftermarket headunits. BUT I have a pretty intense system in my car and I want to be able to hook up both my amps to this Delco stereo. I looked on ebay and found this
I can see that theres not RCA outputs on the back, and I need 3 outputs for my system to work. I then was talkin to a friend of mine and he told me theres a device you can use w/ these factory stereos that allows you to hook up rca's, my question to you guys is, has anyone ever done this, and where can i get this device that allows me to do this. Thanks a ton

done it many times. curcuit city, best buy, and any other stereo shop will have them. Forget the name of them but...you wire them into your rear speaker lines and you play with the gain and then you have two RCA ports to use.

Re: 4th gen Stereo dilemma

there is a box in the middle...again can't think of what it's called, but it's like an equalizer set up, and you can have one input, and have the three outputs, front, rear, and sub. Stereo shop can give you the names and what not, just ask them what you need to run it, and then go shopping for your own parts and their stuff will probably be blown up and some installation fees. The part is easy to install, just can't remember the name of it.

Re: 4th gen Stereo dilemma

its called a line converter. its a small probably 2"x3" box that converts the powered speaker signal to a pure audio signal. they'll run ya anywhere from $12-25 depending who's trying to screw you the worst. i will say though, get the ones with the adjustable input volume. what you can do is take each of them....somehow mark your rca's....front and rear. and hook the front one to the harness' front speaker lines, and the rear, to the rear....obviously. if you'd like to save room behind your deck, you can also splice in around your rear speakers, and run the rca from there. its your call. its not near as easy on a 3rd gen though, cause they're not like in a trunk or something. so nevermind that.....sorry.. lol

you dont need to run one for your sub. if your amp has an rca out at least. if not you'll have to splice a third. but you'll have to get a volume control for your sub. (im sure you know all this, just being thorough just in case!! =D)

good luck man, any problems, lemme know!
