Help with Alpine with 1/8" to Ai-Net Cable
Hey all! I put an Alpine 7838 in my Trans Am about 5 years ago and had no problems. (Except it won't drive the power antenna) I just bought a Ai-Net cable to 1/8" to use my MP3 player and can't get it to show up. The source button goes from Cd to radio. I have the owner's manual but it's no help. Any help would be awesome.

Is there a switch on the bottom of the deck? My old alpine had a switch for different modes of the Ai-Net.

Thanks! Ya, what a great place to put the switch! I will check it out in the next few days and post with an update.

Re: Help with Alpine with 1/8" to Ai-Net Cable
No luck, there is a switch that says "Ai-Net." It has two positions, Norm and EQ/DIV. I switch it over to EQ/DIV, and initalized the unit. Nothing comes up when I hit the source button other than CD and Radio. Any other suggestions? Am I doing something wrong?

So sad, just got off the phone with Alpine. They say that the Ai-Net cable will only work with CD changers on my CDA7838. No go with the iPod cable.

Do you know if the iPod interface box will work with your deck and iPod?
I was going to get one for my Alpine, but I happened to trade some stuff for a Kenwood MP3 player and the iPod interface box, which works great, but I think the Alpine setup would have been better. I don't have the ability to scroll to a song, I have to keep pressing the next track button on my Kenwood.
I believe with my Alpine, the volume **** would allow me to scroll through the songs.

I think the 7838 is too old for that box. It will work with any 2004-2005 Alpine unit. Mine is from 1998!!!

I had the same problem as you. Here is what finally worked. If you look in the owners manual it will have a button that does the system setup. It is like a menu. You have to actually tell it that there is some thing hooked up. It will probably say CHANGER. After you do that when you hit the source button it will CD, RADIo, then CHANGER when you scroll threw. Give it a try. It worked for me. The owners manual is very vague on this subject.
