Re: Help subwoofer box
well since i could barely fit 2 12"s in my trunk you pretty much got no other choice , id say you can maybe fit2 15"s in the trunk and then stick two where the rear seats are and you wouldnt even notice the sound quality difference. if you do put em where the seats are mount em so they fire down and youll get better sound

Re: Help subwoofer box
well im no sound professional but if you just want a good bang you need distance for the sound to travel so your best bet is probably two in the trunk and two in the rear seat area all downfiring im sure theres gotta be someone here more knowlodgeable on this type of thing then me. ive got two 12" 1500 watt each subs that are sittin flush with the hump facein up and they hit pretty damn hard so yours is gonna bumb no matter what

Re: Help subwoofer box
kinda both i want to put the chevy symbol in the middle of the subs and i want to paint it.. i have a pics of my car but it says there 2 big for it to load i guess...my first idea was just 2 jl 13.5's with 1000 watt amp to each one but cash that a problem and that would be it but i like to be different i want my car to stand out... but as far as the box i might just go with 2 subs in the back and 2 amps idk though its a difficult choice cause un like my friend who has a 83 firebird who has his set up like a race car i want to make mine like a show car...with get up and go....

Re: Help subwoofer box
sounds like my plans err..dreams a car that looks like a trailor princess but has enough power to eat a brand new lamboid say youd be happier with a set of good subs and amp if you know what your at or know someone else who does you can make 2 10"s louder then 2 15"s

Re: Help subwoofer box
Just my 2 cents but you want to keep your car functional as well as sound good. I dont have a system in my car but i do in my truck 06 f250 I was told that i couldnt put a 12 in it but i did!! Me and a buddy made my box fit, but anyways if u want boom dont go big I know it sounds stupid but its true. Th larger subs cannot retract like the smaller ones so some of your low tones are lost. My other friend has 2 tens and they hit harder than my 1 12 does and i hav a stronger amp than he does, because they can retract quiker adn pick up the lower tones. Now I know another guy that has 3 jl 8's and they friggn rock its unreal and keep in mind that some subs dont like ported boxes. My 12 is suppose to be in a ported box and it was till we modified the box and closed the port and the sub hit alot harder. Hope this helps.

Re: Help subwoofer box
i have a thought for you to consider. have you looked into infinitys basslink stuff? they have powered subs so that means built in amps matched to what they are pushing. they will fit in so many creative ways. i have seen them in the well in the spare tire area in the glove box area. or infinty has the basslink t which is one 10 with 2 passives and a built in 250 watt amp but like 125 rms and i here almost nothing but good things about these. i am planning on the basslink t myself. for pics on thoughs you can google it or look on ebay cause they have them too. just my 2 pennies

Re: Help subwoofer box
To fit something like that, all I can think of is to completely remove the rear seats, then build a wall to separate the front and rear of the car. I saw a similar system in a 3rd gen a few years ago. He basically used the hatch to display all the power components. His enclosure took the whole rear seat area floor to roof and the front edge was flush with the doors. Too big for my taste, mine is plenty loud for me at 1400 watts RMS and a single 12" Memphis MOJO.

Re: Help subwoofer box
Each subwoofer size sounds different, the bigger the subwoofer the lower the frequency it puts out/the deeper the bass. I prefer the sound of 12's. Because bass is non directional you only need 1 subwoofer. Just buy one really good sub and a powerful amp with a 1 farad cap and it will sound great. That will save you some space and weight. All you need for a head unit is something with 3 rca preouts @ 4V. I bought a Alpine head unit for a little over $200. You don't need a lot of money to make a system sound good and be functional.
