Re: corvette head unit
You need a line level converter to change your speaker level outputs to preamp RCA type outputs to connect to your amp. Almost any car audio store will carry these. The can induce noise into your system if you get a cheap one. One of the best is made by Peripheral like this piece http://peripheralelectronics.com/pro...trSearch=sven2, but it's a bit spendy.
I might go that route in my 89 RS. I have the same radio but it came out of a 2002 Chevy/GMC truck.

Re: corvette head unit

Re: corvette head unit
Sort of. All you want to do is add some subs and an amp and keep everything else as is right? Then all you need is a two channel version of the piece in the link. You need to splice into the speaker wires from the back of the head unit (the rear channel would be ideal), that way you can still use the speakers as is. Run the new leads (the ones you tapped off the speaker wire) to the converter, then run a set of RCA cables from the converter to the amp. This diagram holds true for some less expensive line level converters also, you can splice either at the speaker (shown) or at the head unit (easier).
