Pics of my HUmount!
Figured I'd share a couple of pictures with you guys. I had an extra head unit, so I got a humount to go along with it and put it in a couple of weeks ago. Here's some pics:
^^Sorry for my horrible picture taking, just wanted to show that it wasn't sticking out.
And what the hell, might as well throw in a picture of my car (and dog) as I was walking back inside (P.S. hood is popped)
These are made for fourth gens (although I think they make them for 82-92 Camaros), so the fit wasn't great. I had to cut a tiny bit off of the plastic under the clips on the bottom of the factory trim. The adapter plate itself, I had to trim the sides down and cut off a big chunk of the bottom left (maybe right too ...I don't remember) mounting piece. That was it for making enough room for the factory trim piece to fit over it. The only other thing is getting the radio to slide all of the way back, just have to cut up the mount in the back for the factory radio. I left just enough so that I could still use the bracket to bolt the back in.
Price: $93
So, what do you guys think, big improvement over the mounts that stick out an inch

^^Haha, I'm way down in New Jersey and my poor car has been stuck in the garage for a couple of months now
But, yeah, I like it a lot. I wanted to post it up to encourage some guys on here to get it instead of the horrible ones that are available for our cars. If you look over on LS1tech, there's always hundreds of threads with people posting pictures of these things

Re: Pics of my HUmount!
It is funny, seems like all the sites i have been going to have had someone post about these kits. My wife wants one for her Ws but man can't see spending 100 bucks. But they do look sweet

Its nice. Those things used to run about $50-60 about a year or 2 ago though.
They do make mounts that are flush but of course you can't get them with fancy text on them.
I plan on making something like this in the future, but I'm going to be cheap and use plexiglass, VHT niteshade, black spray paint, and epoxy.

Good luck on that Firebat if you decide to go through with it, might not be worth it by the time your done with all of the work though. Besides, buying these things is the cool thing to do
And for the rest of you guys asking where to get them. Just google humount or go to humount.com. They do make them for Camaros too and you can get any text you want in any font. Just so you know, they take about three weeks to come.

Re: Pics of my HUmount!
Looks really nice 87 formy. Yeah it takes alittle while to get but well worth the wait.
Heres a link to his site: http://maptechenterprises.netfirms.c...2529a0b7e8e6d9
Ive got one too, The IROC pictures in his gallery are mine. I bought it awhile ago when the prices were cheaper, I spent 65-70 shipped for one with the led bar and custom lettering. Me and him spent days picking just the right font, and he sent me various samples of what it would look like. Really great guy to work with.

Re: Pics of my HUmount!
Here are a few pics from the site, I guess the iroc ones are Rich92 RS's.
I used one made for a fourth gen and it just took some trimming here and there, but they make them for third gen Camaros, might be identical though.

Re: Pics of my HUmount!
^^Haha, it was a tough decision whether to match it with my CD player or the rest of the dash lights. I figured it's normally day when I drive it, so I hooked it up to the remote turn on and called it good
I want to get a red CD player and then get the red mini lamp or LED's to match at some point...Or maybe I should put blue LED's in my dash to match my humount!! I do have a blue car, why not blue lights?
 It's too late Gotta prepare for New years' Eve though

Re: Pics of my HUmount!
Is that the blue backlighting that they provide, or did you modify the lights to match your head unit? I am definitely going to be getting one of these, but my head unit light up with more of a pure blue. Not so much teal like yours.

Re: Pics of my HUmount!
It says that they do custom jobs, I wonder if they could make a 3rd gen one with the formula text in the 80's font that is on the side of my car? And orange backlighting to match the guages? Because I have a clarion HU now and it is set up so the buttons match the guages.
87 Formy, do you have any more pics of your car? I would really like to see some exterior shots. I need ideas of what I want to do with mine come summertime! I really like what you did with the front bumper pieces.

I don't have any other pictures of the car. I don't like its stance or wheels, so I've avoided taking pictures of it
Those bumper plastics were just sanded and painted, no big deal.
BMAN90RS: It is a mounting kit. There is a plastic piece that you slide your head unit into and then you screw the metal plate over it and it all tucks under the factory trim.
