Re: Best Subwoofers
Settle down. The huy answered the question the post was about but mentioned something unrelated in the process on his car. I just thought I would mention something before he dumped money in shocks and still had a sag issue. Besides, I have a feeling as long as the thread doesn't take off on a discussion about shocks and springs, the thread starter wouldn't get too upset if in passing another TGO member's issue was resolved in the process. And besides, the guy didn't ask for shock advice, I just offered it to help him out.

Re: Best Subwoofers
I put in a set of 18" cervin vega strokers ( another installer built the box ) in the back seat of a 1988 GTA, They were powered by a pair of US amps 2000x's and the car had 5 batteries.
Let me tell you this thing pounded!! I know there are other subs out there these days but it all comes down to 2 things
1. your budget ( you get what you pay for on equipment and install )
2. The install ( The best equipment does not work if it is not installed correctly )
Thats just my 2 cents
Cheers,

a note on those Memphis Street Edge, I bought 4 of their 12's from a local shop, he was changing stock to the RE's and sold me the last 4 Memphis he had for $40 each. I put 2 in a compression box in the back of a Dodge Neon with a Crunch 1500 amp and they hit HARD. Definately worth the money, they're still kicking 3 years later
edit: I didn't notice anyone mention square kickers in this thread... reason?

Re: Best Subwoofers
Square kickers are an SPL sub. The quality is lacking. Something about a round speaker giving off the best quality, while the square bad boys are all about SPL. Not really a good listen to sub.
Oh, and the whole "Don't mix subs" controversy only applies if the subs are different sizes in a box with only one chamber. If you have a well box with three chambers in it, feel free to drop in a 8" a 10" and a 12". But if there's only one chamber, you're losing sound quality.
