The WTF Happened Question of the day.
OK title says it all. I'm running a JVC HU with a MTX Thunder 2300 series amp, 600 RMS Bridged at 4oms, into a Pyle SQ Red Lable square 10inch.(May be just crap) So I was on the way to work and the bass quit. WTF, just hooked it all up in the vert. Go back home and amp is fine. The speaker looks fine untill I took it out of the box. One of the wires from the voice coil broke off. I was thinking about soldering it back together. Is this a bad idea? Am i running to much power to a very cheap speaker, witch I just found out about. I had this same setup in my T-top for 2 months and it all cool. Or is it just over abuse and the wire just poped off? Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks. Nutz

It's a 600 watts RMS speaker, so you should be doing good sending it that much power. Wire probably broke off from cheap craftsmanship. For a 600w speaker that's only $40, that's most likely where they're skimping. Solder it back on there.

Ya the solder fixed it. It was pain to do but its done; i'll have to see how well it holds. While were at it. I did a search for the big three but didn't find anything. Can someone info me of what they are? I seen the thread about where to buy wire and stuff for it, but didn't say anything about what it was. If I can get a quick run down that would be awesome. Thanks. Nutz

The big three are the main three wires power goes through in your car. Battery to ground, engine to ground, alternator to battery. Replace those wires with large gauge for less resistance and less leached power.

some bump is better than none.. not trying to put what you have down or anything its definitly better than nothing, just that theres better out there if you just save your money
