in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

Alright heres what im doing, i bought 6x9's and 4x6's for the car, and im putting an amp to them... the amp i purchased is Kicker 4-Channel ZX Series Amplifier (ZX200.4)

I ran all new speaker wire, and ran the power wire/ground wire for the amp.

Heres where im at...

Terminals for Speakers
it says AMP1 and AMP2
i hooked the 2 4x'6s to AMP1 and wired the 6x9's for AMP2

since i hooked the 4x'6s to amp1 what i did was put the xover to LO because in the manual it says it makes it so no bass goes to it and i also turned the bass **** all the way down
and since the 6x9's are on amp2 i left the bass on and keept xover off, high says its mainly for subs or bass speakers but i want some sound out of em =D

Next the rca and remote wire.. i have a jvc radio and took it out of the console and there was only one wire i could use which im guessing was the remote wire(it was orange) and then there were 2 terminals for the rca cable red and white.. hooked those up color for color...

Back at the amp... theres rca jacks for AMP1 and AMP2.... which rca jacks am i supposed to run them to?

i included some pics.. maybe they will help!!

thanks!

Re: in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

the way mine works is i have a l and r for front and back, both in the amp and out of the deck. in your case this would work fine for how you have the speakers wired up. if you only have one l and r output and not two, then you will have to split the deck outputs you have now. you will have to get adapters to make the one l wire split into 2 l wires, and another to make the one r wire split into two r wires. these adapters should be able to be found at radio shack or something like that. the only downside is that you wont have a front and back channel, only left and right

Yeah, often times the remote turn on will be a 3-wire connection. You would normally have the power antenna to the power antenna plus the remote wire spliced in there as well.

Orange is usually a security option

as far as what model you have, the number is generally written on the face of it somewhere

Re: in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

model # for sure is JVC KD-S5050
and amp model # is Kicker 4-Channel ZX Series Amplifier (ZX200.4)

Where do i connect the remote wire to on the head unit?
The 2 RCA JACKS that are with the remote wire obviously do color for color in the head unit, but where do i connect them on the amp? There are 4 rca jacks 2 for amp1 and 2 for amp2. Pictures included!

the rca jacks for the front that u wanna use r or should read line in not thru. the wire on the rcas is not usaully used as a remoted wire but a ground for noise that comes thru the rcas. the remote wire for the radio should be either blue oe blue with a white stripe and its probably aready connected if u have a power antenna. Also if u have the manual to the radio look inside @ the wiring diagram, it should show all wires and what they are used for!!

Re: in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

okay, the remote wire is blue with the white stripe.. it says it right on the head unit itself.. i currently dont even have an antenna(saved it off) and im not going to be using radio just cd's/ipod. so i can just disconnect it from what it was previously connected to and connect it to my remote wire for the amp correct?

as far as the rca jacks.. the only 2 rca jacks on the head unit are Line Out.. then on the amp i have RCA Inputs L and R for AMP1 and AMP2.
since the head unit only has one set of rca jacks.. what do i do?

Re: in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

nope i think thats it... then ill be testing it out! thanks a lot, putting in the last 6x9 and then its on the way to the store , will that one wire thats with the rca cables work as a remote? just so i can try it out.. i already put the car basicly back together lol... ill end up running another wire eventually but would like to hear it work before i take apart the car again

and the only other question was about the remote wire from my head unit.. its attached to a wire already it says "antenna" and i dont listen to the radio so do i have to splice it back in with the remote wire? or can i leave it out?

That can't be right for the crossover. Lo usually means low-pass, meaning it's passing the lows to your 4x6's.

Hi usually means High-pass.

You don't want your 4x6's producing the lows, they can't handle it.

Re: in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

I would put them on hi, having it off means everything is going to the 4x6's.
for the 6x9's, that's a toss up. I would either leave it off or on hi.

lo, is more for subs.

Re: in middle of wiring and need some noob help =D

yes put it on high and fix the frequency to about 90hz. that should make them sound very clean. if u wanna go for a lil better highs u can but seperates for the dash...comes with a 3in mid and a 1inch tweeter!
