System Upgrade
I thought it was time to pull my pair of JL 10W6 woofers in order to use the full potential of my amplifier. Wired in parallel, the impedance sits at 1 1/2 ohms. My amp puts out 1100 watts into 1 ohm, so I am only using 3/4 of the amp's potential.
I am having installed a 12" Memphis 15-M3MOJO12 which will handle a continuous 1000 watts and peak of 2000 watts into 1 ohm, using all of the amp's sub channel.
Some pictures of the progress so far...
Part of the box with the woofer in place. The amp will go to the right of the woofer (below as you see it.
A little more box. This shows where the required air space will fill the well.
The rest of the stuff. The rack up on the cargo deck will go away. Only the amp will be displayed next to the woofer, the rest of the stuff will be hidden somewhere that isn't used by the woofer's airspace.
More when it's finished.

Looking good. I've always heard good things about Memphis although I haven't tried it yet. Let me know how it goes, I'm thinking of using Memphis for my next project.

Unfortunately, I won't see any more until the finished product, my installer will be enjoying it before I will
That is a Memphis amp. It's the older model of the 16-MCH1300, or Memphis Belle 5 channel amp. I bought it when it was new on the market and it's been doing great ever since.

Re: System Upgrade
Progress has been a little slow. The enclosure itself is complete, what is left is to relocate the amp to the right of the sub. The system is operational as it sits and that sub hits hard! The crossovers will probably live in the small space in the well at the end of the enclosure, and we haven't decided whether or not to display or hide the cap. We still need to carpet the whole thing and also make a cover for it.
This has been power for the system all along.

Re: System Upgrade
I finally have it finished except for constructing a cover for the whole thing to protect it from cargo.

Re: System Upgrade
The bottom half was fiberglassed to complete the enclosure. Except for about 6" to the right, the entire well was used, that space was used to hide crossovers. The right side plastic trim piece had to be cut to make room for the amp's wiring. Any mess was hidden nicely by the carpeted trim panel to complete a flush mount appearance.

Re: System Upgrade
Yes it is the M3 (15-M3MOJO12). By itself, it outperforms the pair of JL 10W6 subs that used to be back there.
