Any one know of a good material to install into the walls of my trans am under the carpet and plastic panels that will have a better effect on deadening the sound from escaping the car then the stock blockers from teh factory?

I just did my whole back area, and pretty cheaply too.
Go to your nearest lowes, and look for some stuff called 'peel and seal' in the roofing area.
Looks just like dynamat, it comes in a roll of 6 inches by 25 feet. 42mm thick and has the aluminum backing on one side. Cost about 13 a roll.
Much cheaper then dynamat and easy to get more if you need it.

There are several companies out there with different variations of DynaMat, all should do a fairly good job. They will help eliminate exhaust noise in the interior as well as all other road noise.
If you don't wanna deal on the internet and what not, Best Buy sells 4 different setups of DynaMat.

Nope I haven't noticed anything,
since it's been so cold here I even put the roll in front of a heat lamp before I applied it, to get make the adhesive to stick better. I didn't smell anything when I did this either.

I also had concerns about odors flashing off the "Peel andSeal". Also, how well did it quiet road noise? Badman

Car isn't drivable yet, so haven't been able to test it. But I'm sure it will help reduce road noise, and any rattles compared to none at all.
As for the smell, there are a couple on my forum that use it, and said they haven't noticed any with it.

Did a little research. Dynamat is a Styrene-Butadine based product(synthetic rubber). Other sound deadening products are asphalt based or SBR(like Dynamat). So, the Peel and Seal looks like a great alternative. It is one layer of foil, two layers of polymer, and 40mil of asphalt with a peelable paper backing. $13.86 a roll at Lowe's. Badman

I do believe this Peel and Seal stuff is what I will be getting in the very near future and it will be going all over my car. How many rolls would you all say it would take to do the whole interior excluding behind the dash? Even behind the door panels, and would it do any good to put it behind the headliner? It's a t-top car.

hmm, to do everything.
I would start with at least 6 rolls, and see how far that takes you. I'm assuming you wanted to do the doors too?
If you have extra, you could always put 2 layers in spots where noise seems to be a problem.
Not sure about the headliner, I would do that last and if you have extra you could always put it up there too
