Sub and amp recommendation
I just upgraded the system in my car. I put in a JVC kd-lh910 cd/mp3/wma/sd deck in. Infinity 6412 4x6 in the front(Alittle mod on the DS to fit) Sony(yeah I know but they were free) xplode 6x9 in the sails and an Alpine 4ch mrp-f250. I was thinking about the Infinity basslink 10 or an amp/sub combo. Don't want anything too big in size cause I have t-tops. I'm mounting the amp on wall of the well(underneath where the t-tops overhang). Possibly a second amp for the sub in the same location so a big box is not an option. Any suggestions? I don't need overpowering bass that can be heard from miles away like i belong in some rap video or something. Just nice clean sound. Thanks

Same for the sub. Ten inches is plenty but twelve can work too. Spend somewhere around $100 or so and you'll probably be happy.
I just got an excellent deal on Wednesday on a brand new amp and sub combo for $98! Got a Kenwood KAC 6202 amp bridgeable to 200 watts and a Kenwood KFC W300S twelve inch sub for less then $100
I think the sub is actually too large for where I'm putting it so I bought another close-out sale Kenwood ten inch sub for $28--normally $100. I am smiling from ear to ear

Do something like this:
1991 Chevrolet Camaro - Olaf's Chevrolet
Go to Profile they're out of a new amps right now, but keep looking. I got mine for 59 bucks, 300W RMS at 4 ohm, and 410W RMS at 2 ohm (which is what I'm running), into an Infinity Reference 1042W, got the sub on sale for 70 bucks.

If you're trying to take up the least amount of space as possible look into some shallow subs. I've got a pair of 10" Earthquake shallow subs which are only 3 inches deep. They take up a lot less room than my bandpass box did and I can get the spare out without having to remove the box. I was skeptical about the shallow subs at first but since I've had them I've been more than pleased with them and they sound excellent. Nice and tight.

Thanks for all the suggestions. ANyway I picked up an MTX subwoofer amp I think it is a 3001 model only 150 watts. A buddy of mine had an old 10" Bazooka tube with a bad speaker. I put an MTX 5500 in it with alittle modding. It hits like a truck! I've been playing with the 4 channel to get the levels right. Took the car out at night and found out that the alternator doesn't like my amps! I watched as the headlights dimmed and the voltmeter started to "headbang" to my Metallica cd. I picked up a RF 1/2 farad cap. Puting it in tomorrow, see what happens. Thanks again!

Go back where you got the capacitor and
RETURN IT !!!
GET YOUR MONEY BACK !!!
Those caps, well I argued with people about it at work, some are saying "oh it's the ****, it's like a second battery, you can play your box while car's not running"
My reply is always "Well quite interesting how all car audio forums slam down on caps, saying they're a waste of money. Also the cap discharges quickly, now it needs to be recharged, who/what does the work ? Your poor alternator."
Do the Big 3 upgrade, that's what I'm doing next.
----------
For maximum performance, and possibly SQ, see how much volume the subwoofer requires, then go to:
Rockford Fosgate® - Box Calculator
Type in your measurements, which should be something like 11 inches deep, 26 inches wide, and adjust the height to make the cubic foot result be what you need.
A simple MDF box, heck should take you maybe a few hours to build, nice and slowly. Mine took a bit longer because I was combining wood and fiberglass and I was playing around with it.
