stumbled upon a A/D/S/ PQ10
I recently acquired a A/D/S/ PQ10. I got it for free too
The guy was just going to throw it away.
I understand that the PQ series was generally looked fairly well upon. I'm curious if anyone has any info about this amp. A google search turned up 40x4 @ 12.7 volts at I'm guessing 4 ohms. Is the amp 2 ohm stable? Any idea what it puts out with two channels bridged? How does it sound?
I might be tempted to run it with channels 1/2 and 3/4 bridged to power my comps for a little while.
Good find?

i know i've never heard a single bad thing about ads. heard nothing but praises on the sq of their amps. i dont know if itd be 2 ohm stable. if it is though, it should be able to to give you nine2x a run for it money, and crush it in terms of sound quality.

I'm probably not going to end up using this long term, but if the PQ10 works I see no reason not to use it until I get my next amp.

i doubt you'd hear much if any difference in volume or sound quality. distortion on almost any amp is too low to be audible. some amps just seem to have that crisp, articulate sound though, its hard to explain, they just sound clean. i've never heard an a/d/s amp, but i've heard that sound out of arc, zapco, diamond, and dls amps, and a/d/s is right up there with the SQ big boys.
i thought you had a nine.1 for your bass?

The eventual idea for bass is a NINe.1. Remember, you PMed me a little while back about buying yours?
I'm currently running 2 type-e's (10" cheapo alpines) and an infinity reference amp that wasn't meant to be doing this kind of thing (doing about 320 watts @ 2 ohms bridged). My 2x can do 200x2 @ 4 ohms (this is what I’m doing with my comps right now) or 600x1 @ 4 ohms. I'm probably going to end up running it unabridged because I don't think it's stable at 2 ohms bridged (subs are svc 4’s).
My sub stage will get revamped in the spring when it’s warm enough to fiberglass a new enclosure. I’m trying to see if I can score a pair of ED flatcones (their old line of woofers). They’re dead sexy and sound pretty good from what I’ve heard. If not I’m not sure what I will buy. The eventual amp will be a NINe.1 to match my 2x.
Anywho, I just looking for bridged power ratings and such on the PQ10. I guess I will just try hooking it up tomorrow to see what happens. No idea how I’m going to get power to the thing though, it only has 12 gauge terminals

oh yeah, forgot about that. i smoke all kinds of kind bud, so im pretty burnt out.
no kidding, 12 gauge power/grounds? i've seen pieces that take a 1/0 down to 4 gauge, but i doubt theres one to take 4 or 8 down to 12. if theres a will theres a way
good luck finding anyone willing to part with their flat k's, but if you do, you're the man. they dont get really loud, but they're AWESOME sound quality speakers. easier to find may be the flat cone soundstream woofers, can't think of the model off the top of my head, but they also produce extremely clean bass.
and theres always the rl-ps....

I just tested out the amp today with my old 6x9's bridged off two channels each and everything powered up/worked. It's too cold to really think about swapping amps around but I might do that as a temporary solution on a warmer day until the tax return gets here so I can buy my next amp.
I will be sure to post thoughts/impressions as compared to the other amps I’ve used.
