Should I get a bandpass box?
Right now I have 2 Audiobahn 12" subs. Nothing great, but I really like them.
I've been looking for a box, and I was wondering if I should get a bandpass or a sealed box.
Any input?

well i believe you SHOULD tune a bandpass box. AKA the lengths of the ports for your freq. etc. Maybe someone can chime in on this. If your not wise in box making I might opt for sealed unless recomended for bandpass

unless you have alot of space to use don't get a bandpass box. Like mentioned before they take alot of planning to build and you would probably need 3-5 cu ft of space for each driver

Stick with sealed - it's easier to get right and will probably sound better. You're also less likely to drive the speaker too hard and mess it up since you can hear when it's struggling.

ive got a bandpass box in my car and it hits harder and sounds much better then some systems ive heard excupt one but that kid had about 5k into his system.
this is the best picture i can get of it. it fits in there snug and with the ttop bag covering it, you never know its there. i still think for $850 to do the entire car system, it turned out very well and for being done over 2 yrs ago and still hittin hard, its crazy. been thinkin of doin a differnt set up but nothing yet.
also my system doesnt have anyproblems with the higher volumes, i havent had it past 27 out of 35 on the volume becuz it just to damn loud to sit in the car and it still plays clear with no poping or anything. most of the time idont have the volume up past 15 since im not lookin to draw any unwanted attention or trouble.

Use sound proofing and keep your windows rolled up to avoid trouble.
I'm impressed that you got the bandpass box to fit, but I'd rather have something that fits with all the panels still on in the trunk. Can't say I'd recommend anything by Jensen, either.
Just FYI, the numbers on the volume **** don't tell us sh*t about how loud it is.

Please dont take this as a bash but come on... bandpass is meant to get loud and thats about it... plus u got the amp right on the box to vibrate everything inside loose and your using jenson.. there are worse out there but there are better. just IMO

u ever think its just a jensen bandpass box? My friend had a dual bandpass box until I knew it was 2 Zeus subs with 2 rockford amps pushing em along with 4 EV components or something on his back deck.
ANyway for some reason a shop told him his awful smell was from the "going bad" subs. Im guessing the zeus subs werent meant for bandpass or he did something wrong like overpower em...
back to topic. whats ur setup?

dont know why u guys are bashing the jensen stuff. this is the better products they've put out. there new stuff is complete garbage. and with the amps mounted there. there on soild and havent had any problems. also whats the difference between mounting them there and mounting the say on the hump where the gas tank is? there still goin to get vibration like crazy. i think amps are build to withstand tons of vibrations.
i dont think the older jensen stuff is the worst out there. theres tons of other brands out there that are complete junk. the new jensen stuff is junk. my friend had 2 of there amps and they both fried.
i guess the only way to let you know how loud it is , is to bring it to a stupid sound competion. but even then i dont care becuz this set up is for me and suits my needs very well.
my set up is pinoerr headunit, pinoerr speakers front and back, jensen box with jensen subs, 400w amp for just the subs, 200w amp for the rear speakers. plus is anything ever gets stolen im never out alt of money, since i worked at the place i got all this, i got it at a 20% discount.

All that matters is you're happy with it.
I only made the comment about the volume **** since there is no way of telling how loud it is for multiple reasons. SPL competitions are for people who need extra attention. I could care less if my system can blow your eardrums faster than somebody else's.
It's recommended to mount your amp away from the box because of the excess vibrations. In reality, if you put padding between the amp and the box, it won't make a bit of difference. In theory, your sub box shouldn't vibrate at all if it's built as well as it's supposed to be built. Car audio amps are designed to take a beating for the very reason of being mounted in a car.
