Prestige 6x9s & deck?
Hey, guys...my dad drove my 82 Camaro for a couple of years while I was in college. He (on a bad day, I think) had a Prestige receiver (P-975), and some Prestige 6x9s installed in favor of my Infinity Kappas of the time. I was really upset when I found out that he let the guys that did the install for him throw the Infinity speakers away.
I just know that they are riding around somewhere with my speakers! He did keep my Kenwood amplifier, though.
I have never heard of Prestige in my life. They have no home page that I can find, and very little information in general seems to be available on the web. Using the forum Search, I can only find references in signature blocks. Are these el cheapo speakers?
Questions: What grade of product is/was Prestige? My setup doesn't even compare to the way it sounded with the Infinity Kappas & the Kenwood deck. Would it be a sin to throw the Prestige 6x9s & receiver away in favor of the new Infinity Kappa 693.5i 6x9s and a good receiver?
Thanks!

What in the hell even posessed your father to rip out what you had in the first place?
Did he pull out the original motor and drop in an Iron Duke for you too?

Ha! Iron Duke...good analogy. My dad just got took. Electronics used to be his forte, but as he got older, he stopped keeping up. He probably took it somewhere because the sound wasn't what he considered par//the folks he took it to saw an opportunity to sell something & make off with some good equipment//& he got took thinking he was doing an upgrade. He was really proud of it.
I'll put some locktite on the screws this time
.
Thanks for confirming my thoughts!

was this a recent event, in otherwords do you think the installers are still at the same place......something of that order if it were the same people would remember. i'd take the parts back and throw them through their window (err i mean hand them back and tell them you weren't happy).
i use to see that sort of thing everyday which is why i got out of selling car audio, it's ashame though as most of the time the sales people are pushed to sell junk because of the higher payout. unfortunately it's the customer that gets burnt in the end but i know myself i got in alot of trouble when i was younger because i refused to sell some things that clearly were junk.

Yeah...they threw them out of the Camaro & threw them into their ride. My dad made a lot of improvements to the Camaro while he had it. He got took on the stereo, though.
The Infinity Kappa 693.5i pair is scheduled for delivery today, along with the 462.5CFP pair for the front. Gotta love e-bay!
