Also they don't provide optimum space requred for 12" subs, I was looking at them for a while, but going to opt out now because of this. I see people with fiberglass enclosures, how is that thick enough but plastic is not? Also Am I correct when I say a 12" sub needs around 1.5' of cubic space to pound at it's best?

I have the Q-Logic dual 12" enclosure, but I'm not using it yet. It gives me the correct airspace for the subs I plan to use. The thin plastic piece is just a cover. The box itself is made of heavy MDF. I dont plan to use the plastic cover. I'm going to make a fiberglass cover for the enclosure that will extend from the trunk to the rear seats. This cover will be flush around the subs and also have space for an amp rack (4 amps, 2 caps) and the battery. Only complaint I have is the Q-Logic enclosures are overpriced.

the box i would need for 2 10's is 208 on that site.
at best buy the box for our cars is 165
at the local shop its 175.
and 200 for a custom that will be just the most simplest of setups. glassed boxes or anything special are alot more.
so i do not think that box is over priced

I got $75 worth of supplies in my glass box, And that fills up the whole well, So a smaller fiberglass wouldnt cost too much...Hell I still got 1/4 gallon of resin and alot of matting left over for other projects!

I just purchased the Q-Logic enclosure for 2 12's. $289.00 W/ free shipping. It was the most expensive but I feel it will attract the least attention and will look cleaner than other boxes out there that dont have grills.I will recieve it tomorrow and I'll try to have some pic's up wednesday.

I paid $285 to have my enclosure made for my fourth-gen but I feel it was worth every penny. The guy that runs SubThump.com makes excellent quality boxes, and from the website it looks like he's making thirdgen boxes now too.
The vinyl looks so much better than most carpeted boxes I've seen, and I designed the logo and had him emboss it on the box. Eventually I will put my originally intended equipment in there (JBL 1200.1 and Adire Brahma 12"). I actually had him build the box to my specific airspace requirements. Great guy to work with.

That's your opinion I suppose... when I look at mine I'm like... man... that could've been a factory option.
Btw, the Q-logic boxes aren't MDF, they are particle board. Blah.

Oh, and I can still use my t-tops, which in the fourth-gen usually go down in the well

lol
I've never had to worry about it in my thirdgen, it's a hardtop. The fourth-gens actually have a bracket in the well that they mount to. The thirdgens usually have a bag and some straps or something to hold it in place.

You might talk to Steve at SubThump, or if you'd like I can talk to him... if you ask he might make one that can handle the t-tops, you never know. He is really great to work with and does a great job and knows his stuff.

Just put your T-tops in the back seat. I have a bag for them in the trunk area but it is a real pain to stick them in there, so into the back seat they go

My Q-Logic box for dual 10's was $219 at Audio-Etcetera
Audio-Etcetera
Unfortuanately My Alpine Type R's are too deep to fit in the box. Also, I have the rear wiper and it hits the top of the box before the deck lid is closed all the way. So basically I wasted $219+ shipping. The enclosure looks really small compared to the Q-logic 10" box I had before. It really kicked with that box with only a single sub, running on a single voice coil.
I pulled the spacers off the bottom; and the box, without the plastic cover, will clear the wiper mechanism but the plastic cover won't fit. If I were to cut a 4" X 6" hole in the bottom of each box and put a plate over the hole it should give me clearance for the subs but the top still won't look clean. I'm ticked to say the least!!!!

The car is the 85 IROC-Z.... I would have checked the fit if anybody locally sold the box........ It would fit the car fine if not for the rear winsheild wiper. I had a Q-Logic box for a single sub that the same sub fit in easily, so I never even suspected there would be a problem.....

The plastic cover for the electric motor. It's several inches lower than the standard plastic rear hatch (inside) cover on a non-rear windsheild wiper car.

I'm going to have a few days of vacation later this month. I might just build my own box. I thought of removing the wiper stuff but I'm still going to have an ugly rubber stopper in the deck lid and I will have to find the correct plastic part for the inside of the hatch.
It would probably just be cheaper to build a decent box for the lower portion of the trunk (where I wanted to keep a few tools...).
The upper portion of the trunk is still feasable, i just need to make it flat on top instead of angled upward. Luckily the angle of the rear glass will still work really nice for bass......
