possible to put subs on rear shelf behind backseats?

has anyone managed to successfully come up with a way to add subs and an amp to the shelf area behind the backseats? im thinking about subs in the future but i dont want to loose the rear cargo hole. theres not much area to work with there is there to install some subs and an amp huh? i also want the pulldown cover to cover whatever is there when the hatch is closed so that even hurts more.

is there anyway to convert the stock rear speaker holes to become a sub encloser and stick subs in there? i know you'll loose mid and highs in the back but i think a good set of 4x6s up front will keep things sounding ok.

just wondering if anyone has come up with a "decent" sub setup without loosing that trunk space. ive thought about door subs but i dunno if i like the idea of that.

i believe that with a little work you can get 8's to fit in the sail panels

Sail panels in our cars suck as far as bass is concerned. I thought about putting 8's in mine but you gotta think about this, even a decent 6x9 doesnt sound all that good in the sail panel as it does in a box type enclosure so a 8 wouldnt produce all that much bass either when istalled in the sails. I've seen people put some 6'1/2's in the sail panels and then put a small box with a 10" sub in the spare tire area along with a amp or you can also put the amp in the glove compartemnt area , just remove the cardboard inside you'll gain some room.

Ya, I will get them on thur. you will see in the pics the subs are in seperate boxes and with them pushed to the inner fender covers there is enough room for the amp to sit on the shelf between them

thats looks like pretty much what i wanted to do but is it possible to fit a box that wont interfer w/ the hatch cover? it doesnt seem like a likely possibility at this point but i was just wondering if anyone figured some ingenious way to do it. what about a really thin long box with 1 speaker. would that provide enough volume to make the single speaker sound ok?

I did that last year, I had (2) Rockford Punch XLC 12s in a pretty decent size sealed box and my amp mounted to the box sitting on the rear shelf, I cut down the height of the box by 3 inches and it was just clearing the rear glass, But it looked killer. But now I am building a glass box for the well, Seems much more stable to me.
