Bad idea to hide Nitrous bottle in Sub Box?

I made my own box out of MDF almost a year ago, and had this crazy idea... I could hide the nitrous bottle in it!

I tried, it fits too! I made my box follow the contours of the entire back trunk area, and it fits 2X 12's up top which are angled towards the front.

I dont know if thats such a good idea though... getting to the bottle means pulling out a sub, plus who knows what effect the bass might have on a pressurized bottle like that!

What do you think?

putting the bottle in your box will also greatly reduce your cubic feet and your subs will then sound like ****.

ya the volume of the bottle will reduce the enclosure volume.

it would work if you had a box that was too big and wanted to reduce the airspace though

in my first couple installs i was just learning the affects of bigger vs smaller enclosures so i would purposely make the box too big and then put bricks in it to see what it sounded like with less and less airspace.

Yeah well the box is most def. too big i have to keep a piece of wood nailed to the bottom to reduce its volume...

so it may work? hrmm...

I'll have no effect on the bottle whatsoever.

Just make sure you get a remote valve opener. Also I am sure you can fabricate the sub box to house the nitrous bottle with an easier way to access it. I saw one guy who had a cool setup. I will attach a pic of how he had it setup. Don't mind the crude format.. Also where the Nitrous bottle sits is completely sealed from both subwoofers. Its almost like having 2 independant boxes and a secret storage compartement. My buddy has this setup in the back of an integra. I am sure the same idea can be adopted for our cars with little to no problem.

well my buddy has been rollin like that for a while now "his car is stored and bottle is out". However he hasn't had any accidents with that setup yet. Not sure how a bottle could leak, If the valve is attached properly and the lines insulation is still intact then there should be no leakage. That setup I displayed has a special area just for the bottle where the preasure created from the subs can't cause any adverse affects.

If the nozzle is locked properly then it shouldn't loosen unless you use the allen key to pop the lock off prior to twisting. If the vibrations form a sub doesn't knock your exhaust off, then the Nitrous should be ok.

you might get a weird noise with a bottle in your box. I'm not sure about NOS bottles but a scuba tank makes a nice ring when you tap on it. It even resonates when you speak loud near it. I'm guessing a NOS bottle would behave the same way.
