Which amp? Phoenix Gold or Kicker?

Trying to decide on either Phoenix Gold R804, Kicker KX600.4 or Kicker KX800.4.

It looks like the KX800.4 puts out more continuous power than the Phoenix Gold.

I'm looking for good sound quality. I want to run 2 10" DVC Apline subs off the 2 rear channels of the amp, and a pair of MB Quart Premiums off the 2 front channels.

Kicker is by far a superior in name brand and in advertised wattage.

Kicker is one of those companys like fosgate they rate their amps lower so that they perform better than advertised.

Kicker will not only have more power but better response, and better quality of sound.

Where as lower quality amps use a different method to calculate their wattage and freq response as to kind of "fudge" the numbers.

So in my opinon a thousand watt amp is not a thousand watt amp it's ridiculous that you buy one 1000 watt amp and it puts out 1200, you buy another 1000 watter and it puts out 800.

Kicker has just been known fo not fudging numbers and good quality. I would take a used kicker or fosgate over a phoenix anytime

Phoenix Gold all the way!!

Keep in mind the PG Octane R amps are rated at max to compete with other brands that rate theirs at max (Kenwood, RF, etc.). The Octane R is basically a repackaged QX series amp. These are their entry level amps. Tantrum is their mid level, Titanium their high end. The Tantrum and Ti amps are underrated and come with a birth certificate showing actual output. I would put a Tantrum or Ti against a Kicker anyday. The Ta and Ti are both 1 ohm stereo, 2 ohm mono stable, class AB. Not saying Kickers bad, they are very good amps too.

I have MBQ Premium 6.5s and am giving them 120 watts RMS. They definately could use more power. If you going to use 1&2 in a 4 channel amp in stereo, I'd go for the biggest wattage you can afford.

The PG is 75x4 watts RMS
The KX600.4 is 75x4 RMS
The KX800.4 is 100x4 RMS

I order the Kicker KX800.4 today. It was the same price as I could have gotten the Phoenix Gold for, and already pushing the limits of what I have to spend.
