Got my new amp today (and then bad stuff happened)!

Well, finally got my amp today. It's a JBL BP1200.1. Cheap, but anything should be better for powering my two 12W3's than my old RF 275.

After hooking it up I was disappointed by the minor improvement it made, so I opened up my box to rewire everything from series to parallel. I got all that done, mounted the speakers back in the box, and decided to push on them a little bit to check for any popping. Much to my disappointment one of my W3's made the worse cracking popping noise I've ever heard, as I felt air flow across my hand. =\

Luckily for me these subs came with a 2 year warranty from JL. =)
I bought them Oct 6 2001. I'm sure glad I caught this one in time!

Hey, and I heard that they don't make 12W3's anymore? Just 12W3v2's? Hmm, maybe they'll just send me one of those a for a replacement? That would be nice.

Having mis-matched subs sucks, even if the new one is better than your other sub(s). Hopefully JL has plenty of W3s left for warranty replacement.

Well I called up the place I bought these subs from today, and they said to bring em in and they'll send em back for me no problem.

I think I'm just going to plug the other sub into the wall socket so that I can get 2 new matching subs. :hail:

I brought em back on Saturday, no problems. It was quite the fun ride on the way to the sound place. I had the amp pushing the sub at 3/4 gain for over an hour before it finally took a ****.

As for the sub with the messed up cone, the guy at the counter told me they'd pop it for me if JL was going to just reglue it together, so I would get a new one. =)
